I was focused on the amount and how little the loans are understood by college students. It’s not fully apples to apples but it’s darn close in terms of letting people that have no idea what they’re doing borrow huge sums of money.

FWIW, nobody shut down wsb. The mods made it private for a few hours to clean it up.

I also have no problem screwing the short sellers. I do think it's problematic how this train is seeming to focus on trying to get more people in on the charade though.

I don't pretend to understand any of this in any meaningful level of detail, but isn't the idea behind short-selling that you're basically making a bet that the stock/company will do poorly in the near term? I mean that's what fueled the 2008 financial crisis, right? People were shorting the high-risk mortgage market, which ordinarily wouldn't be a thing. I mean, who in their right mind bets against the housing market.
