I have no idea how adoption services work but aren’t they managed to some degree by government agencies? Catholic Churches can choose what parents are qualified for adoption?

I’m sorry but that sounds awful. If a Catholic Church refuses to perform a sacrament for a gay person/couple, I get it. But adoption I feel like is something that should be above that.

The organizations like that are in most cases better and more efficient than the government agencies, which are understaffed and inefficient. The result is children who end up waiting for adoptions or don't get adopted at all. Would you rather have Catholic charities refusing to deal with same-sex parents, or children waiting in foster homes for months or years?

I'm not sure I follow this. That's not the choice. The choice is would you rather have Catholic charities refusing to deal with same sex parents.... or would you rather they not be given the option? Cos it very much is an option, it's not immutable.

If the Catholic charity is presented with a same-sex couple seeking to adopt a child.... I do not know of you can reasonably see that as anything other than 'problem solved'. The child has a home with two parents, moving on. If they refuse to work with the same-sex couple because Bronze Age dirt farmers who practiced animal sacrifice deemed that bad..... the kid stays in the orphanage for an indeterminant period.

So yes, I'd much rather the Catholic charities not be afforded the indulgence of their ignorance.
