While I do believe many of us (myself included) overestimate the number of hardcore Trumpers that are out there, the opposite is true with Freddy. I think he underestimates just how many people that this is their life. Hannity, Trump, Limbaugh, they are the providers of all things true.

Why would I care what Hannity says? He's a carnival barker like Limbaugh playing a character on tv.
I wish more people could see this. it's entertainment and they'll do whatever's necessary to stay on TV/radio.

Correct.... however, not everyone sees them as entertainment. In fact, many see them as the only true sources of news available. For instance: John Stewart, Stephen Colbert (when he was doing the Colbert Report especially), John Oliver, their shows are all entertainment. They'll be the first to tell you they are not news. But there are a ton of people out there that see them as that. I doubt Hannity would admit he's entertainment, not news.

I think part of my issue here is that I never watch cable news, nor partake of much of "popular" conservative media so my worldview is not shaped by them nor do I have any idea what they talk about from day-to-day so miss the news cycle of it, outside of it being retweeted into my timeline by others.

Back to the trough. ;)

1. Don't act like Trump was any different
2. I don't know much about any of these people really, but it is a bit depressing. Seems like we're going to have a similar policy in the middle east as we have had the last 40 years. And it kind of supports the notion that mainstream Dems are closer to classic neo-cons than we would expect

Trump was likely worse. Though in the case of Trump he put the literal head of oil in charge of State Department.

I don't see any of the Biden family being named to these posts, so that's a plus.

My DSA pals (mostly former students) are very, very upset about many of these picks. Not progressive enough. Ties to Wall Street, Corporate Dems, and so on.

At least there are some competent, diverse people being put in these positions.

Better than Trump was the biggest selling point of Biden for me. He was always going to be a return to politics as usual, which while better than the last four years for sure, doesn't represent where I'd like to see the country going. If Biden was running against anybody else, he wouldn't be president-elect right now.

And that was actually one of his successful appointments.

Jon Stewart's appearance on Crossfire all those years ago was excellent. Tucker Carlson hit him with what he thought was a zinger, that there must be people who take his show a 'news' and that he's no less of a partisan hack than he and Begala, and Stewart was like, "You're on CNN; the show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls."

I'm a big fan of those shows, but I know what I'm getting.

Business Insider Miller. Not a name I'd pick but to each their own.
