I'm guessing it was sexual preference, not gender

gender preference/orientation isn't really a thing

Pretty sure it was my preferred gender. They had a separate thing for sex and for sexual orientation.

huh. that's weird. "gender" would accomplish the same thing. including preference or orientation just sounds off to me

Semi-related, have an extended family member who recently came out and told us that she identifies male and prefers the pronoun they/them. There was a name change related as well. There are a few members of my family who are digging in and refusing to call them by their new name. I don't really understand that as it literally affects us zero.

Also, on the subject of being offended, I've definitely slipped up and called them the wrong name or pronoun to their face. I especially struggle with the pronouns. They absolutely do not get offended. I apologized, corrected myself, and moved on with whatever we were talking about.

"Hey, Richie! How's it going?!?!?"
"Hey man, good. I go by Dick these days."
"Uh, no. You're Richie."

There was a time, where people thought Trump would listen to him, would take his advice seriously.

Now here we are.
If you would be so kind as to direct me to evidence of this, I would be appreciative.

I have never had any thoughts that Trump would listen to anybody who was saying something he didn't want to hear. That's why this whole trope of "he'll become 'presidential' after he gets the nomination........ after the election...... after the inauguration......... after he's been in office a while....................." was utter BS from the get-go. This *gestures broadly* is what 'President Trump' was always destined to be.

But, you know..... judges!
It's like a hundred pages back at this point, but there were certainly people in here calling other's crazy because of course Trump would listen to Fauci.

How can you "prefer" a pronoun? There is some implicit bigotry in using that language!

You need to wake they/them up!

I go by Richy (I don't really care what people call me) but it's amazing how many people, particularly older people, call me Ricky

I did let them know that as somebody with two writing degrees, they're really asking a lot of me to refer to them in the plural.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politi ... nt=curated

"People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots — these people, these people that have gotten it wrong," Trump said. "Fauci’s a nice guy. He’s been here for 500 years. He called every one of them wrong. And he’s like this wonderful guy, a wonderful sage telling us how" to respond to the pandemic.

"If I listened to him, we’d have 500,000 deaths," Trump continued, adding seconds later, "If we listened to him, we’d have 700-800,000 deaths right now."

Trump pointed to Fauci's early comments on mask wearing and shutting down travel from China as examples of allegedly bad advice. "And yet, we keep him," Trump told those on the call. "Every time he goes on television, there’s always a bomb, but there’s a bigger bomb if you fire him."

I admit I may not understand the minds of core Trump voters, but I am curious how Trump's people inferred that the path to the election victory involves trashing the relatively popular Fauci.

Incidentally, in the hours after "the call", Biden's election chances on Betfair moved from 61.5% to 62.7%.

It's like this stupid thing going on with Latinx instead of saying Hispanic.

The only people who use that are paternalistic college professors and people who want to be seen.

Can't wait to have a president with a little less toxic masculinity.

Given what has been posted about Toobin over the last ~15 years, it's almost a miracle this happened as late as it did! :D

If anything, wouldn't that keep those dumb libruls away from the polls?
