The only thing I ask is that the nominee is legally qualified and a woman. We don't need another white guy ATM.

So Republicans still believe that you can’t appoint a judge in an election year, right?
Not apples to apples.

I'll leave with this. She was an absolutely amazing woman who was a fighter, not only herself but for others. She is integraty personified and I will miss that in today's climate. She is the type of woman I will always strive to be.

It's worth remembering that she thought very highly of her colleagues, even the newest one.

Just doing it the way you guys do it. Hopefully most of you won't hurl a lot of insults at the more conservative posters here.

I always liked her. She did a lot of good. Just didn't like her ideology.

She sure did. Scalia in particular was extremely fond of her.

This. Before we all freak out take a moment to appreciate what she fought for and the changes seen in her lifetime. She was an incredible person who made the world a better place.

I guess the court could get more extreme on social issues, but it’s not like this 5-4 has much room to move right on commercial/economic rulings.

But, the nomination process is going to be a **** show, the news media is Not going to handle this well or responsibly.

100% they try and rush one through.

100% chance there is violence related to it.

100% chance they'll fail.

100% chance this results in practically open warfare on the floor of the Senate.

100% chance of mass hypocrisy and a ramping up of insane rhetoric from "leaders" in both parties.

Thank you. This is my thought exactly. I think the rhetoric is going to be 100x more than whatever actual effect it has on the court.

The only thing I really worry about is the Roe v Wade thing. If that is really going to be something that could happen, this country is gonna be in a **** civil war

This could cause Trump to be re-elected.
