I understand that Champ is technically African American but I don't understand what purpose that distinction makes

the reason why being "african american" is important is because it means you're more likely to be discriminated against because of your skin color. I would bet a lot of money that he's never been discriminated against (unless he was hanging around his grandfather)

on the PGA championship broadcast this weekend, Jim Nantz referred to Cameron Champ as "african american" because his grandfather was black

idk I think it's all funny.

That would make him at least 1/4 African American, so he would still qualify as such.

Local TV reporter I follow on social: "#BREAKING former VP Joe Biden chooses Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate. She is the first African American woman chosen for that position."

First comment: "She's not African American, she's Indian/Jamaican if you care to look into it."

Which I'm guessing would come as quite a shock to Senator Harris.

This Facebook post now has over 230 replies, and a large number of them seem to standing on this hill to the last.

Never mind that Jamaican is a nationality, not an ethnicity, or that as a native-born Californian she is, in fact, an American. They just really seem to not like the idea of another African American getting near the top of the Executive.

What are the highlights of your opposition to her?

To start, the brand she has tried to cloak herself in is a sham. More practically, she has a bad record of pushing policy that harms already oppressed groups. The 'progressive prosecutor' that focused on truancy, petty drug policy, and lobbied against body cams.

She sucks. F Biden.
