In an interview with WFOR in Miami, Governor Ron DeSantis admitted for the first time, that Florida’s unemployment system is designed to not pay out claims.

“I think the goal was for whoever designed, it was, ‘Let’s put as many kind of pointless roadblocks along the way, so people just say, oh, the hell with it, I’m not going to do that,” said DeSantis.

He was criticizing it and advocating it be changed.

Shutting off water is one of the most despicable things someone can do, especially to someone's home. Everyone should have access to water.

They threatened this at the outset of the lockdown back in March when adherence was lax; it was, to my knowledge, never enforced. I think it's just meant to be a cudgel, at least as regards shutting off service to a residence. Frankly, that would be irresponsible beyond belief imo, and is an especially bad look considering he issued a stay for shutting off utilities to houses for delinquent bill payment through the rest of 2020.

When I saw this on the news earlier today it was in the context of people having mass gatherings at mansions to get around the fact they couldn't do so at actual night clubs. This isn't turning off the faucet in apartment 4C; it's dispersing 10s to 100s of people in a faux-nightclub setting.

Oh, word. Ok, that makes some more sense. I'm still staunchly against it. Though, in this time of racial tension, I can't help but note turning off the water to a rich person's party juxtaposed against the firehoses used on civil rights protesters and think there's a mildly dark joke that I could workshop in there...so from that perspective, I hope it happens, otherwise, no one will get the reference...

These are mostly happening at houses that are vacant/second homes/rentals in the hills. There were over 200 people at the house in this photo... taken right before a shooting!
