Imo tony and MWBs last two posts misunderstand the appeal of trump.
I live in Somerset, PA. I totally get why most people worship Trump.

That said, with the current economy, do you think any of those same Trump believers would suddenly say "Nah, I'm thinking of voting for a D" even if we had President Jeb or Marco? They would not be the rabid fan base that Trump currently has, but they'd still be solidly behind any R in the office. Plus, more centrists/moderates would get behind a R who well, isn't Trump.

It's probably the best of the ones he's had so far. Also I have a short friend named Mike and it's made for a fun week

Imo tony and MWBs last two posts misunderstand the appeal of trump. Critical to trump is the 30% who will support him no matter what because he’s sticking it to the “betters” as NP has alluded to in the past. The twitter attacks and nicknames (which are hilarious imo) are the core appeal. Picking off “respectable” Republicans and moderates who care only about taxes and their own bottom line or the judiciary or gutting the administrative state is the side dish to the main course that is the insane behavior. It doesn’t work the other way around.

For example, he doesn’t get record turnout in his primary compared to any incumbent in American history if he doesn’t act on his every awful impulse.
Yeah, actually I think you’re probably right. He brings more to the polls this way. He brings the enthusiasm the Dems can’t.

Exactly. The racism, the misogyny, the awfulness, and the cruelty are very much part of the appeal.

He wouldn’t be President in the first instance. But no, I don’t think he would perform as well in November if he stops tweeting, holding bizarro campaign events where his brain is visibly leaking out of his ear as he talks about how you have to run the dishwasher “7, 8, 9, 10 times to get the dishes clean folks”, and behaved like a traditional politician in a debate against the democratic challenger. Not even close.

In fact that’s probably the Democrats best hope, that whatever pharmaceutical cocktail he’s on is upped beyond the recommend dosage and his instincts and natural joie de vivre chemically repressed. Paging dr Shad.

There’s only one campaign on the D side that does. But notwithstanding what’s happened in Iowa and NH, I am now bearish on its ultimate success.

We are a Super Tuesday state, with some of the most expensive media markets in the country. I think nearly every single commercial break of every single show we watch across multiple networks has had a Bloomberg ad for about two weeks now.

To balance the scales against his CA blitz Bloomberg is doing campaign ads for trump via twitter:

Dog carcass in alley this morning. Tire tread on burst stomach. This city's afraid of me. I've seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters, and the gutters are full of blood, and when the drains finally scab over all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!" and I'll whisper "No."

The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death
The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles
It went like this:
The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble
And pulled out their hair
The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze
I said: "kiss me, you're beautiful -
These are truly the last days"
You grabbed my hand and we fell into it
Like a daydream or a fever
We woke up one morning and fell a little further down -
For sure it's the valley of death
I open up my wallet
And it's full of blood
