The reaction to this has been interesting. I do not think criticism of Israel should automatically be labeled "anti-Semitic" as many on the Right/conservative Jews would like to do. That said, I am amused by the "concern" that criticism of Israel would indeed be labeled as such. There doesn't seem to be as much of a concern throwing around the terms "homophobic", "racist", and "sexist" like they are hand grenades at even the slightest criticism.

Which concern are you addressing here? The backlash to that NYTimes story was based on labeling Judaism as a nationality.

Judiciary committee made statements on it and debated it last night. The committee is going to vote on it this morning.

I listened to some of it, they are all basically saying the same thing over and over, not surprising that the twitter world has moved on to more important things, like the Trump-Greta twitter feud.

I listened to a discussion last night that helped frame some things for me. One of the lefty podcasts I indulge in discussed the phenomena of christian cinema and then had on a guy who was the son of a prominent evangelical that went on to become a vocal critic of that movement. In the same vein of how those mega church people feel vindicated through the success of their pastor/preacher/whatever the John Goodman character was from Gemstones, the more coarse Trump is, the more the people who voted for him feel vindicated by him as their leader.
