Grieving Parents ‘Ambushed’ by Trump, Who Had Teen’s Killer Waiting at White House
The president had hoped to surprise the parents of dead British teen Harry Dunn with a meeting with the woman who killed him—all in front of the media.

From the article, it was entirely Trump's idea but year, it's real. How anyone thought that was appropriate is sickening.

He was just asked a question about it in a press availability on TV and confirmed it.

There are only five NATO allies that host US nukes.

Some more on the Incirlik nukes.

With Turkey’s invasion of Syria, concerns mount over nukes at Incirlik
In an interview this summer with Air Force Times on the future of Incirlik amid rising tensions with Turkey, former Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James would not confirm or deny the presence of nuclear weapons there. But, hypothetically speaking, she said that if nuclear weapons did have to be removed from that base, it would be a complicated operation. It would require negotiations with the nation that would become the weapons’ new host, James said. And it would require a great deal of logistical and security work.

If the Air Force found a new nation willing to host the nukes, James said, it would have to take “the greatest of care” in their removal and transport. If the receiving base did not have the facilities or security necessary, James said, it would require a significant construction effort. And NATO would likely be involved.

“Any time nuclear weapons are moved from point A to point B, it is a major logistical challenge," James said. "The security is enormous that goes with this.”

The question of whether nuclear weapons should remain at Incirlik took on greater urgency following the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, during which the air base’s power was cut off by Erdogan’s government.

Concerns have only increased along with tensions between Ankara and the rest of NATO, especially as Turkey decided to accept a Russian-made S-400 air defense system in July. The U.S. and other NATO allies are concerned that Turkey’s use of the S-400 could jeopardize secrecy on the F-35 and it’s stealth capabilities.
The inclusion of the last bit is a purely gratuitous indulgence on my part.

Uncomfortable story of the day...
Newark resident Pamela Hamill wants a public apology from vice presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.), who she says has repeatedly besmirched her late father, Curtis C. Dunn.

Dunn was the tractor-trailer driver involved in the December 1972 accident that took the life of the newly-elected U.S. Senator’s first wife, Neilia, and 13-month-old daughter, Naomi. Dunn died in 1999, but his daughter says she’s fed up with Biden publicly mischaracterizing him as having been drunk when the accident occurred. According to Delaware Superior Court Judge Jerome O. Herlihy, who oversaw the police investigation 36 years ago as chief prosecutor, there is no evidence supporting Biden’s claim. “The rumor about alcohol being involved by either party, especially the truck driver (Dunn), is incorrect,” Herlihy said recently.

Police determined that Biden’s first wife drove into the path of Dunn’s tractor-trailer, possibly because her head was turned and she didn’t see the oncoming truck.

Wonder who rebooted this story? I got it off Twitter from a Nation writer.

Has he continued to tell the drunk-driving story even though the family has asked him to stop?

In late August of 2008, during the presidential campaign in which Biden was now Barack Obama’s running mate, Inside Edition aired a clip of him talking about the “errant driver who stopped to drink.” The daughter of Dunn, who died in 1999, was distraught. “The family feels these statements are both hurtful and untrue and we didn’t know where they originated from,” the daughter, Pamela Hamill, told a reporter from the News Journal in Delaware. Her father had mourned the accident, she said, and always was solemn around the holidays because of it.

In 2009, CBS News rehashed the debunking. “He was a good, hardworking man, and wonderful father,” Hamill said.

Biden called her after the CBS report, she told me. “He apologized for hurting my family in any way,” she said. “So we accepted that—and kind of end of story from there.” She sounded tired, and tired of talking about this.

America does not have a heritage 1000s of years old.

It's an idiots way of saying our government shares some of the same ideals as the Romans and Greeks before them, and through immigration have adopted and incorporated many Italian cultural elements.

His intended point wasn't false, but his speech writer's seem to always take the most simplistic form of expressing a thought and his delivery just makes it more sophomoric.

Italy is younger than the United States as well.

Rational people easily understood what this means:
“The United States and Italy are bound together by a shared cultural and political heritage dating back thousands of years to Ancient Rome."
Not everything he says is dumb. Those lines coming out of the mouth or any other human and no one even bats an eye.
