McCain a yes on the tax bill. This thing is going to pass, probably thinking that they're going to get shellacked in the midterms if they fail to pass the bill, so just pass it and cross your fingers I guess.

At this rate, they're going to get shellacked in the midterms regardless.

Not if this somehow stimulates economic growth.

I've been listening to the audiobook version of Luke Harding's Collusion during my commute this week. He was The Guardian's Moscow bureau chief for a while until he got kicked out of the country by the Russian government. The book is basically putting together everything we know about how Russia influenced the election and had contact with the Trump campaign. I don't know that it really breaks new ground for anyone who's paid attention to the story, but Harding puts everything together into one coherent narrative and has a bunch of his own sources verifying different parts of the story. It reads like a Le Carre novel.

There's also no real smoking gun proving collusion occurred, but man, is there A LOT of circumstantial evidence.

Confirmed NYT's report that White House has readied a plan to replace Tillerson with Pompeo as secretary of state. Kelly is overseeing the moves, per sources. Story TK.

Even Glenn Beck is worried (for our country) that Harding's layout of the details might be true.

Why

This is going to hurt a lot of people tremendously. How the **** are these idiots going to allow this to pass?

It hurts people over 50 who are trying to save for retirement with the elimination of pre-tax contributions for people of that age group.

It hurts grad students or employees of universities who receive tuition benefits.

Eventually, it will hurt low income families and people because their tax bracket will move.

It hurts people who rely on Medicare and work in healthcare (unless they've removed that recently).

It hurts the self-employed and teachers, as they can no longer claim for deductions for necessities to run their businesses/classrooms.

It literally only helps corporations and the top earners in the nation.

I mean, I gotta hand it to the GOP. If their goal is making it so they literally have no voter base outside of the uneducated and people who watch Fox News, they're doing an outstanding job.

Just because you pay for a piece of paper, doesn’t mean you are educated.

I wonder if Trump will ditch plans to replace Tillerson now that the media broke the story. I could see him keeping Rex just so he could whine some more about fake news.

Woohoo!!

The old Carlin axiom of "the upper class: keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class: pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there...just to scare the sht out of the middle class," has rung true forever. But now the Republicans are adopting the tack of appeasing the donor class at the expense of those who are merely well off. Because who's going to complain about that? Who's going to go on about how the upper middle class are getting hosed? What does that rally flag look like for DINKs making $250k combined whose spending power is going to diminish?

This tax plan sounds like unfrosted pop tarts...this is like watching a highlight clip to scout a player, but what do the guys that are putting it together say about how good it is and why? Whether logical or not, someone, somewhere must see some good in it...what are those highlights?

SALT deduction is gone among other things IIRC. Is mortgage interest deduction going away also?
