I'm a bit blown away right now. Via Google News I ended up reading a Fox News article about a truck driver/father of 2 young kids (who had a Russian-sounding name) who died from an abscessed tooth. The article was fine, but I made the mistake of scrolling down and reading the comments. Among them we're comments like:

the guy was probably gay because gays get a lot of fecal matter in their mouths
the guy was probably illegal
CA is a sanctuary state and illegals get what they deserve
the guy's dentist was probably a Jew who wasn't qualified
the antibiotics the guy took were probably knockoffs from India
Ukrainian truckers are all hopped up on dope and cheating on their log books
they hoped his wife and kids get deported now

Trump isn't wrong in terms of organized crime in Mexico. It's just that sticky issue of having to work with the Mexican government..."sending troops down" is also known as an invasion.

Absolutely. But just like with any nefarious business it doesn't exist without a market for it. The US consumes drugs. Drug use in Mexico is comparatively very low. Nobody has the money to buy at the price Americans pay for it. Eliminate our war on drugs and take a more libertarian approach to drug use and the cartels are forced to sell drugs to their own country.

But weed isn't where the money is for cartels and retail cocaine and meth stores aren't likely going to be a thing here ever. So we're always going to need a supplier from the deep deep south. Pollos Hermanos it is.

I just read the thing. Did he basically threaten to invade Mexico over drugs? The Mexican government has allowed the DEA to operate in their country and assist their war on drugs for years.

I wouldn't be surprised if transcription for certain calls was normal. What is not necessarily normal is for that transcript to be leaked.

None of this is real, right? These are purposeful leaks of all this outlandish stuff to keep normal and sane people perpetually spun up about everything he does, so that when the **** really hits the fan on something he does everyone will be Chicken Littled to death. There was a thing a Mexican think tank or something a couple years ago when legalization in WA and CO was being debated. Their conclusion that it would cost the cartels over $2 billion, just from these two states. If that's accurate (and I don't follow this policy debate with anything like your tenacity, so I don't know) the loss of revenue from legalization in the whole country would be 15x or 20x that, easy.
