It kind of blows my mind that you people can sit here and say "hey barrack seems like a good dude, I'd drink a beer with him."

Yeah okay, I could make small talk with Obama over a drink, sure. Id thank him for extending Healthcare coverage and allowing me to be under my mom's plan from her employer. It wasn't until a year ago that I got my own.

I still resent him.

He plainly didn't do enough. He is still responsible for a lack of transparency and immoral conduct.

Then again, the people who post such things, mostly live in a very insulated and comfortable bubble.

What would you have rather he did more on?

Other than taxes, my life is largely unaffected by the federal government. I guess I plead guilty of being in a bubble?

I mean, I genuinely don't know what to expect. Now that the day has actually arrived, it is pretty surreal.

I'm pretty disappointed in the 60 or so Democrats in Congress that are boycotting the inauguration. I respect John Lewis' civil rights bona fides, but skipping it just sends a poor message to me. Eh, we'll see what happens. I am very interested to hear the content of Trump's inauguration speech.
He deserves to speak to an empty venue. He doesn't deserve to be normalized. Boycott away. What are you interested in hearing, exactly? Do you want his generic disingenuous shtick or his piss baby schtik?
Agreed. Them boycotting at least sends a message that not everyone is a complete sheep and are capable of making a statement.

From a personal professional standpoint, I am glad Obama was able to appoint a new Librarian of Congress. Carla Hayden seems to be a perfect fit for the role, and an actual librarian.

I really wonder who Trump would have appointed? Noah Wyle? John Larroquette?

"like...telling Latinos to calm down about something that offends them."

That really puts in perspective, great analogy.

@dodint, that reminds me of the video that made the rounds a while back with the local news story about the Popeyes that ran out of chicken during a promotion. Legit panic

"Pay off the peasants"
In the long run, that is (to me) the expected outcome. If not, you end up with...someone like Trump.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/amazon ... 2017-01-19

Amazon.com has been crowing about its plans to create 100,000 American jobs in the next year, but as with other recent job-creation announcements, that figure is meaningless without context.

What Amazon won’t tell us is that every job created at Amazon destroys one or two or three others. What Jeff Bezos doesn’t want you to know is that Amazon is going to destroy more American jobs than China ever did.

Hence the need to pay off the peasants.

The technology and globalization doors long ago opened. The US can benefit from lower consumer prices and higher profits for capital owners, but only at the cost of subsidizing those not in on the latter. The alternative is a fool like Trump, who pretends that the US can revert to some 1950s middle class utopia. The real problem, of course, is that too many people believe him.

He is a politician. I believe he is a good person and did what he felt was right for the country.

He did help pass the Frank Dodd Act which curbs unchecked high risk investments.
I don't think we are mature enough yet as a country (I mean clearly) to utilize it the way it's meant to be used. Alot more has to be done. More regulation, more stringent laws.

But he's done alot more in his time than many others before him and probably after him too. Grow up. You sound like you're in highschool.

I don't know if you guys followed the story of the hotel in Italy that was buried by an avalanche two days ago. Six people have been found alive just now. 20 still missing.

That author fails to take into account that all of the scores trump posts are total b.s. That being said, Trump's mental makeup probably does indeed benefit his golf game. He has such a selective memory that he probably forgets his mistakes quickly. He obviously doesn't have much of a problem with self confidence.
