Well, Trump and his surrogates will probably play this out for a few more days, which is not to his advantage.

If khan's son believed in Sharia law, does that diminish anything that the son did?

trump needs to learn how to pick fights. hes the equivalent to an umpire or referee with rabbit ears. or the equiavalent of ron artest running into the stands to punch some fans.

No. But you cannot rant about someone's views on the constitution if you yourself don't believe them.
He's probably right that Trump hasn't read the constitution. Khan is a lawyer so he probably has. The DNC gave him a platform to challenge Trump on the Muslim ban and he did it on the basis of American principles. He was a good medium for that attack, but obviously all individuals are open to scrutiny and criticism and he shouldn't have engaged in a media war with Trump. Take the high road Mr Khan.
Didn't Trump attend a military school? I bet he has read it.

It was the best military school. The best.

Hypothetically: Trump completely drives his train off the tracks and abdicates the nomination this month: what are the state deadlines for setting the ballots?

And the more interesting question: would Pence just get slotted up to be the nominee?

He may have read it, but he sure doesn't remember much about it.

Whitman said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday night that, "Donald Trump's demagoguery has undermined the fabric of our national character."

"As a proud Republican, casting my vote for president has usually been a simple matter," Whitman wrote. "This year is different. To vote Republican out of party loyalty alone would be to endorse a candidacy that I believe has exploited anger, grievance, xenophobia and racial division."

Why would he want to takeover a sinking ship?

One just has to exploit anger, grievance and racial division more subtlety, like the democrats.

Has there been a major party nominee - or even candidate - that has garnered this kind of backlash from within the party ranks? I don't remember too many Democrats coming forward saying they couldn't see themselves voting for Dukakis....

Well yes. Which is why trump leaving would be worst case scenario for Clinton.

As an aside: Ted Cruz probably pulled off a pretty shrewd move at the convention...but we shall see.

Ted Cruz is a **** psycho, regardless of Trump. There is no way that in 4 more years, a Ted Cruz is still relevant.

If Trump were to back out now, then a Paul Ryan or a John Kasich make way more sense than going back to Ted Cruz.

"There's no difference between the two candidates"
I said it a couple days ago, I'll repeat it here, and I'll gladly repeat it again and again.......... Trump supporters are looking more foolish by the day.

A candidate who espouses nonsense like this is, in a vacuum, harmless. Hopelessly stupid, but harmless. It's only when a sufficiently large enough array of like-minded fools rally to his flag that the danger becomes manifest.

If this is true, and you still think he's the way to go..... then y'all can just **** right off with yourself, because this is lunacy. You're being wooed by an objectively crazy person.

This isn't "Oh, the wacky socialist wants to give free stuff to people", "Gosh, that was irresponsible to use a private email server." This is a guy openly questioning why nukes are kept in the quiver.

I don't think they would go back to Cruz, but he he can (further) champion himself as the defender of the faith (as it were), in his future grandstanding.

He is very narcistic. He lacks all forms of empathy.
