Couple that with in recent US history there hasn't been a candidate of Trump level love or hate. He's the most non-meh candidate I can remember.
The other should be in federal prison, so it's not just trump.

And I immediately regret using the term 'doom and gloom' (hadn't been to cnn.com).
Dave Mustaine went off the deep end long ago.Fear Sells... but Who's Buying?
What else is new.Yup....there are plenty of reasons to be negative about the state of the world right now.
I understand your need to point out both sides as per usual (well...only when the right is getting called out, but that's for a different discussion), but there's a huge difference in "meh" factor between Trump and Clinton. The percent of people that are on both ends of the spectrum are likely upwards of 80-90% either love him or hate him. Where as with Clinton there's a healthy percent that are very "meh" about her.Couple that with in recent US history there hasn't been a candidate of Trump level love or hate. Reports of the gunman's behaviour were confused and contradictory.
A Muslim woman told CNN that she heard the gunman yell: "Allahu Akbar," yet video footage showed a gunman ranting against foreigners and Turks, suggesting a Neo Nazi attack.
Children were said to be targeted.
There are and always have been a number of ways of answering the question, "has America ever been better than now?" It seems to me that the territory for common ground has eroded dramatically, perhaps to the point which dissolution is the only - unlikely - peaceful resolution to that divide. This is just my observation as an outsider to popular political dialogue, but it seems that for there to actually be any dialogue, there must be some agreement on the terms of the debate, and probably some agreement on the underlying principles of said debate. To me, that seems to be the very ground which is eroding. When I see someone like @Troy Loney make the comment that he isn't imposing his views on anyone else, I deduce that there is a fundamental disagreement about the nature and consequences of politics between those who view the state as the just manifestation of the will of "the people" and those who view the state as a necessary imposition on the rights of the individual. Perhaps this is a dynamic that has always existed, and it just seems more intensified because of media such as the internet and social media platforms; but on the other hand those very outlets may well be hastening the divide.but has America ever really been better than now? Race relations between pre-1965 and post are in different universes, so that's a win for post-1965.
And the economy isn't exactly squarely in our control...I mean, what country that isn't China isn't suffering right now? The EU is on the verge of collapse. And from the looks of it, Europe has a worse "Islam problem" than we do right now
don't tell me you're an idealist, like the people who claim "world peace is attainable" and "if poor people worked harder they wouldn't be poor". There's a ton of fundamental disagreements when dealing with humanity, it's just impossible to try to solve all of them. For example, there will always be the Hitlers, Osamas, Atilla the huns of the world...and because of that, there will always be some measure of death and torment
These are the two most disliked candidates in the history of presidential politics. No joke, the only candidate in the history of the Republic that has higher negatives than Clinton is Trump. The percent of people that are on both ends of the spectrum are likely upwards of 80-90% either love him or hate him. Where as with Clinton there's a healthy percent that are very "meh" about her.
Just got home and was going to post this.
Nope. They (the DNC - which was supposed to be neutral) wanted to go after him for being an atheist. If someone in her organization wanted to go after Sanders for being Jewish....
