The music licensing guy in me is very interested to see how this shakes out. There is certainly a way for these songs to be used legally, despite the artist's wishes. But the continued use of the Stones' repertoire could be problematic. That's where you get into the complexities of copyright law and 'implied endorsements' and such that would negate venue blanket licenses. If video containing these songs is sent to potential donors, you potentially have a willful for-profit infringement claim. I think the max damages there is $150,000 per instance; if such an email was sent to, say, 10,000 potential donors, that would be $1.5 billion in damages.
