All 4 of those years is wishful thinking. Hell, I want to see the odds on both of them making it to November.

Been seeing a lot of "imagine if cops in texas responded to little kids being murdered at school the same way they did to college kids protesting" memes today.

It was an accurate statement. Ms. Morey said, "General reminder that force used to disperse peaceful protesters engaging in civil disobedience should be proportional and reasonable." Acts of "civil disobedience," by definition, are acts involving the peaceful refusal to obey laws, demands, or orders of the government or other authority. By definition, they are illegal acts, and thus proportional and reasonable force can be used to disperse people engaging in civil disobedience. The whole point of civil disobedience is to demonstrate that certain illegal things shouldn't be illegal.

It's certainly not the case that peaceful protesters can never be dispersed or arrested. For example, if I were to set up a protest camp on your front lawn, you would have the right to call the police to remove me, and the police would have the authority to arrest me, because the fact that I might be peaceful doesn't mean I have the right to protest on your private property.

Crazy **** going on at a neighboring high school. Two days in a row, bomb threats were called into the school.

The twist today was that one call went to one police department that said there was an active shooter on campus. At the same time, another call went to the county police and said there was a bomb threat. With the confusion, they sheltered in place.

The calls were AI generated and originated in India. Then there were social media posts, also generated by AI, that fueled a social media fire. Although the locals didn't need much to get spun up with this.

Evidently it happened in another part of the country last week. Scary stuff.

Just sad. I think this has been happening around the country for a few months if not longer.

I miss the days when the burnout called in the bomb threat from the pay phone next to the main office at school.

Evidently, Sleepy Joe convinced Howard Stern to work on a Friday to do a 1 on 1 interview.

I'm not sure what's more shocking: Stern working on a Friday or a sitting president sitting down for an interview with Stern.

I can't wait for Stern to ask Biden if he likes to spank Dr. Jill.

He doesn't do that shtick anymore much to his old fan's dismay. He had Hillary on a few years ago.

Come on, they’re appealing to youth… by going on a 70 year old’s (who apparently doesn’t even talk about spanking anymore) radio show

I haven't listened to him super recently, but Stern has always been a really good interviewer even back in his shock days.

The most annoying thing about Stern at this stage is that he fought to gain ownership of his tapes, has a satellite platform with unending hours of time to fill, and he won't play the tapes because he doesn't want to get cancelled for schtick he did 30 years ago.

Similar to Madden in that regard. Guys I don't listen to anymore except for interviews. Good idea for both to have them readily available for listening separate from their shows.

If Stern's not doing the shock jock schtick anymore I can't imagine how he fills the small amount of time he still does live radio.

Former President Donald Trump’s political operatives are putting together a plan that would give him unprecedented influence over the Federal Reserve, including a provision that could make him an “acting” central bank board member, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

That plan, which the Journal report described as highly secretive, is part of a 10-page document that suggests Trump — if elected — would be consulted on interest rate decisions. In addition, the Treasury Department would be used as an added check and balance to oversee the Fed’s bond-buying activities.

Along with those proposals, the draft contends that Trump could remove current Fed Chair Jerome Powell from office and require that Fed policy be aligned with the administration’s goals. While in office, Trump harshly criticized Powell and his fellow central bankers as they were raising interest rates and reportedly considered ousting him.

Trump campaign officials told the Journal that the draft proposals shouldn’t be considered “official.”

It’s unclear what authority the president would have to take such bold steps on a Fed that traditionally has sought to insulate its activities from outside political pressure.
