You might not care, and I do see that it isn't your school district, but this is a pretty big deal when it comes to how government entities may post on the internet, especially considering that § 1983 suits carry a mandatory award of attorneys' fees for the winner. That means that a school district could be looking at paying tens of thousands of dollars just for deleting a comment. I think a lot of them will likely either drop their social-media accounts entirely or go only with accounts that permit them to turn off all commenting.

I’ve seen you cry foul over 1st amendment violations more times here than anyone in my entire life combined. Most of which end up being nothing. Has Penn State cut that “big fat check” you predicted the proud boys would get? Haven’t seen anything about that yet. No lawsuit, no settlement, no nothing.

Essentially you’re the boy that cried wolf about free speech at this point.

That’s really dumb if school districts can’t block comments from posts. Social media is used all the time for closure and delay announcements, and it always leads to a bunch of people bickering and calling people out. A district should be able to post an announcement like that and close comments.

I’m seeing that it says only people with permission can comment. Which I assumed meant you have to follow and get special permission at the time. Now that I think about it, they probably just closed comments from everyone and no one has permission. It’s just the automated message.

Might there be a reason that I know a lot about how 1A violations work? Maybe something I do for a living?

So far as I'm aware, no one filed suit over Penn State. Doesn't mean that they couldn't have, or that a suit wouldn't have succeeded. Some people let blatant 1A violations slide. Some people don't. And since you almost certainly haven't read it, O’Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier involved two trustees of the Poway Unified School District in California who set up Facebook pages in their capacities as trustees, and they got sued for 1A violations under 42 U.S.C. §1983 for blocking two parents of children in the district who were posting critical comments. Those two trustees just lost before the Supreme Court. So, yeah, school districts can be sued over this.

Just turn off comments. Nothing good comes from Facebook comments.

Anyone can be sued over anything. There’s probably a reason the proud boys didn’t sue penn state. There’s probably a reason no one is going to sue this school district.

Yeah, probably the most likely outcome.

Neither of last week's cases involved Trump, but some of the first litigation about government officials blocking people on social media were suits that Trump was violating the 1A by blocking people on Twitter back when he was president. I recall the government lost those suits. That led to more suits on the subject, a couple of which percolated up to the SCOTUS and were decided last week.

The State Department issued a warning a couple of weeks ago, they certainly nailed it.

The Tennessee Senate has passed a bill targeting "chemtrails."

SB 2691/HB 2063, sponsored by Rep. Monty Fritts, R-Kingston, and Sen. Steve Southerland, R-Morristown, passed in the Senate on Monday. The bill has yet to advance in the House.
"The intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight is prohibited," the bill reads.

The bill is scheduled to go to the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday.
The GOP is just performance art at this point

I don’t think anybody doubts he’ll win the popular vote. Nationwide polls are somehow even more useless than most polls.

I think I would enjoy the show if Trump won the popular but lost electoral vote.

Perhaps so, but it would restore a little faith in this hellscape if he were resoundingly thrashed on both fronts.

So ISIS is mad at Putin for helping Bashar al-Assad's regime maintain rule in Syria.

Vladdy is blaming the Ukrainians for creating a false flag attack, naturally, and the US for warning about imminent terrorist attacks. What's crazy is they caught all four terrorists...which is odd.

Hopefully, the Russian people can read between the lines.

Shyster “I don’t like Trump” immediately responds with 27 polls from multiple different Twitter users. Its sort of like he’s actually a Trump supporter or something
Whoa whoa whoa. This is conservative boogie man talk. Not staunch Libertarian batshit craziness.
What's funny was that he responded to the one where Trump was pretty clearly racist. Shyster = racist as he did not denounce what Trump said.

Is that how this works?
