Baldwin was stupid for trying to use that excuse. I don't find the actor guilty of recklessness when a few others failed to do their job and check the gun.

He was told by the AD, who had the gun checked by the armorer that it was a cold gun. Lying about it is stupid and **** Baldwin but it’s not the actors job to check the gun. Hell charge all three of them and let a jury figure it out.

The AD shouldn’t be the one handling a gun ever. The armorer also epically failed at her job and had no business being on set in the first place. Baldwin is a ****** and has acted like a ****** in every way following the accident. I have a hard time faulting the actor in this situation but hopefully this incident leads (or has already lead) to much stricter rules when a gun is on set.

The accounts I’ve read said the set was a mess and cut corners everywhere. The producers are definitely to blame for that. Set safety and hiring competent people is ultimately the producers responsibilities. The AD is awful with a terrible track record and never should have handled a gun at all. The armorer had no clue what she was doing and declared a gun clear despite obviously not checking it properly. Baldwins blame here is as a producer, creating an unsafe set and hiring horrible crew, not as an actor who discharged a gun that he was told was clear.
