He ratted on others:
Straka, 45, pleaded guilty last fall to a single misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, sentenced to 90 days of home detention, and got hit with a $5,000 fine plus three years probation. Mistakenly unsealed court documents revealed that he extensively cooperated with prosecutors and provided information to authorities about other Stop the Steal activists, including Ali Alexander, a leader in the movement. In short: Straka never did any real jail time, but that didn’t stop him from playing the part.

Yeah, the whole backstory to the present is utterly bizarre. It is a full blown cult.

This should tell you all you need to know about the GOP and their "pro life" stance. Trash.

The CHIPS, PACT, Inflation reduction trio was interesting.

Seems like the senate dems convinced the GOP that they’d stop trying for #3 if they went along with #1. GOP agreed and the minute they did, the democrats got a deal worked out with Manchin for #3. GOP got pissed and decided to focus that anger at #2. Which in turn, they were rightfully raked over the coals, forcing them to come back with their tails between their legs and vote in favor of it, and now the inflation reduction bill is through the senate.

Weird how democrats can get things done when there’s an election just around the corner and at no other time.

I don't really understand this angle. Has the pro-choice movement ever demanded there be "no restrictions"?

Some of the most passionate abortions supporters have made such demands, just as the most passionate on the anti-abortion side demand complete bans with no exceptions.
Some people on the internet = elected lawmakers

Story should be how senators actively ensured that 1. Private Equity firms keep their favored tax status and 2. Pharma companies can continue to price gouge for insulin.

This is the evidence that both parties suck.

I don't like the gas is at a 50 day low success point based on where gas was even like 1-2 years ago. If the president doesn't control the gas, you don't get to claim the gas improved under his watch.

Same argument with Trump / economy people loved trotting out when it was sky rocketing.

Oh the flip side, if he takes the heat when he goes up, he should claim the decline. Now, I don't think they should get much credit or blame when it comes to gas prices, but I don't make the rules

Yes. Biden should be (if he even cares?) happy that the mouthbreather that puts Biden stickers on gas pumps now looks even stupider than they did before. Beyond that it's not a meaningful win.

But the GOP can go ahead and claim striking down that clause as a win for "pRevEnTinG sOciAliSm"

Guaranteed their base will applaud it, even those on insulin. Their base is incompetent.

I doubt this will get publicized much on conservative media.

They did this bill through reconciliation, the parliamentarian ruled that this provision was not budget related, but Dems left it in ( I guess that's why it had the 60 vote threshold to pass?). They were basically daring the republicans to vote against it, one of those heads I win, tails you lose.

They just don't like the democrats doing things.
The Senate parliamentarian had ruled that the provision, sponsored by Georgia Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, is not primarily related to the federal budget. That gave the GOP a chance to raise a procedural objection.

Waiving the rules required 60 votes to succeed. Seven Republicans sided with Democrats to keep the insulin cap in the bill, but that was not enough. Democrats plan to use the GOP move to strip the insulin cap in the fall midterm campaigns.

Eh that user in particular has posts talking about being conservative going back at least 3 years. That doesn't seem like a typical troll account.

There needs to be a better way for manufacturing and distributing long established life-sustaining medications.

That people have to pay hundreds per month for this thing that has been around this long is absolutely insane.
