Perinatal HIV transmission is almost 0 nowadays

Saw a headline the other day that said that heterosexuals now outpace homosexuals in getting HIV.
Per the CDC this seems to be false. Latest data set is 2019 in which 23% of HIV diagnosed were in heterosexual.

I saw it decades ago. Several times. Which is why I'm a little surprised today that the "men who have sex with men" community doesn't seem to have learned much from back then.

One of the reasons I find airplane crashes and engineering disasters so interesting is that each presents an opportunity to learn every lesson you can in order to try to make sure that it never happens again. I would say that one of the lessons from the initial spread of HIV is "It might not be a good idea to have anonymous sex with strangers when there's a new disease going around that is spread by sex and close contact." That message would seem especially apply if you're a gay/bi man and 90%+ of the cases are among gay/bi men. It was a harsh lesson back then, and many people died because of it. And many members of that community today seem to have forgotten it.

From Jan. 1 to July 25, more than 8,100 Democrats changed their voter registration to Republican in Allegheny County and the adjacent Armstrong, Butler, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland counties., according to Pennsylvania Department of State data.

Less than a third of that number — 2,500 — made the change in the opposite direction, and Republicans have held a similar advantage in persuading independents and third-party registrants to come aboard.

It’s part of a statewide trend that’s seen upwards of 38,000 Democrats switch parties this year, while only about 12,000 former Republicans are now Democrats.
Found this interesting. Not sure if it's just the standard trend for midterms following a change in Presidential party

People switching to try and pump up Oz instead of McCormick (was that the guy)? I mean the only reason to switch parties in PA is for primary reasons. I vote D more than R lately, but I'm still registered R because I'm lazy and don't care enough about primaries.

Probably a lot of blue collar rural union voters that have been voting R for years. Curious to see the shift from R or D to Independent.

I think he's talking about a NHS report from the UK.

I was gonna make a poopy joke about how being the #2 man in al-Qaeda has been the most dangerous job in the world for 20 years, but I didn't realize it was al-Zawahri. Well done.

Toomey's position on the updated PACT act is pretty good imo. Take all the bullshit out and go back to how it was when everyone approved it.
