Sounds like we're going to get plenty of teachers banging students news items in the coming years.Yep. Districts are taking anyone out of school too, which isn't always optimal. My wife is going through "new teacher orientation" this week, and although it's normal to have a ton of newly minted teachers, it seemed most were about 21 or 22. Very raw and well, not very professional.

She went before the war. If that's what we're still talking about. Apparently a ton of WNBA players go there for an off-season league because they pay a ton of money. Hmm hindsight is 20/20. She isn't fault-less, but I'm not sure everyone thought they'd actually invade and go to war. She makes 230k here and was making over 1mil there

every democrat voted for the burn pit bill save for schumer "who had voted 'yes' the previous time and strongly supports the bill, changed his vote to 'no' as a simple procedural move allowing him to reconsider the cloture vote at any time"

Griner wasn't Rando von Tourist putzing around Red Square. It's not like she decided, "Ooh, I'll go to Russia this week." She had a contract to play ball.
She's an edge case, so I don't really fault her for going. But taking drugs + paraphernalia with you? Good god, lady wtf.

Not entirely sure where to put this. Decided on this thread, because "sovereign citizens" are f**king dingleberries and what ensues is pretty funny imo.
(I haven't watched the full thing with audio, but I'm presuming there's some coarse language afoot)

The Russian gun runner is in year 10 of his 25 year sentence.
You'd think he was in for a life sentence.
Make it clear to him on release that we will kill him and his family if he keeps it up.

Russia pays women to play basketball...? Hmph, I'm surprised. Are folks interested in that? In terms of women's hockey, I think Russia is 5th at absolute best...

When I found out that Russia pays women basketball players the best I immediately thought it was some sort of money laundering scheme or something

re: Griner
Check the drug laws before you travel. Some countries have strict drug laws and don't give a damn who you are. In 1980, Paul McCartney was busted at Narita airport in Japan with marijuana in his luggage. McCartney spent 10 days in jail before being deported, and the 11 concerts he was supposed to play in Japan with Wings were all canceled (with more than 100,000 tickets being canceled, at a cost of millions of dollars). If a former Beatle got thrown in jail for weed, then a WNBA player who most people have never heard of can get thrown in jail for weed.
I wonder how many foreign nationals are in jail in the US right now for drug-possession charges.

I'm actually surprised she makes 230k in America. I've never met someone that watches the WNBA
Politics And Current Events
My daughter does and makes me watch it too.
The other thing is Paul McCartney was detained for 10 days and deported, not sentenced to 16 years hard labor (in the case of the teacher).

For example, when I went to Japan seven years ago, I emailed the Kanto-Shin’etsu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare to double-check that my anti-anxiety meds were acceptable to bring into the country. Among the many ways that Japan is surprisingly ass-backwards, many mental-health prescription drugs are illegal to bring into the country even if you have a doctor's prescription. Adderall, for example, is completely illegal in Japan and will get you thrown into jail. The same applies for Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, so a box of Sudafed in your luggage could lead to prison and deportment. For benzos like Valium, Klonopin, Xanax, etc. you need to apply for a "Yakkan Shoumei" permission form in advance to bring any of those drugs in the country. Narcotics like codeine or oxycodone are also illegal unless you get advance permission.
None of my meds were prohibited, but I didn't want to run the risk of spending my vacation in a Tokyo jail, so I asked anyway.
