I wonder how people's reactions would differ if it was a Muslim.

I have a suspicion both sides of the argument would flip 180 degrees

How about we pay attention to what is actively happening? I’ve been told here that we can’t trust the left to do things.

What would your reaction be if you were a woman living in poverty forced to bear her rapist’s child?

I can't speak for anyone buy myself, but religion (of any kind) has no place in public schools, or really anywhere else other than church. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Same. Leave the prayer rug at home. You know what they say about assumptions. Or suspicions.

Teachers are people too, and the most fruitful student teacher relationships I was a part of meant the teacher knew or cared about the things I did outside of school and vice versa. It's why I have no problem with conversations about LGBTQ issues or lifestyles from a teacher, because of learning about who they are as a person. It's also why I don't see any problem in a conversation by individuals about one's faith. Practicing that faith during school though is a approval or reinforcement of that religion and therefor shouldn't be allowed.

Why do you think lefties would have a different opinion on the expression of prayer by a Muslim?

Because every debate has to have a hypothetical for what the other side would do

It's pretty cut and dry. Keep religion out of schools means all damn religion.

Personally, I would be concerned that the decision regarding the religious demonstration to be motivated by animus if the situation were a school board firing a muslim for practicing their religion.

Honestly, if it was Muslim it would be worse. Let’s say a Muslim goes to the field with his prayer rug and the players, who are in all likelihood not Muslim, join him. So all these players who don’t believe in this do so for what reason? It just punctuates the problem. Religion just shouldn’t be practiced in public schools.

I think this thought exercise is difficult because the idea of there being this sort of demonstration before a HS football game is 100% implausible. But yeah, if this is the situation, I wouldn't not be opposed to the school board nixing this sort of thing. Mostly because I think it could incite people to take abhorrent actions, so it's saving folks from danger.

I think an open discussion between a teacher and a student about issues or lifestyles is fine and normal on any topic whether it be religion or anything else, and different than having a prayer circle or what not. I think we are saying the same thing though pretty much.

I can imagine the outrage if a coach started doing Hail Marys and other Catholic prayers in my area. Probably not the same level of hatred as Muslims or Satanists, but the outrage would be real.

It's all so dumb.

A lot of coaches do Hail Marys but it's mostly just if you're losing with a couple seconds left

Watched Ambulance the other night.

Would recommend purely for the entertainment aspect. But the suspension of disbelief required for the ending to that movie is on another level.

Freddy has probably been holding a major chub since all this stuff has been happening. IIRC though he was a strong person willing to call everyone crazy that none of this would happen.

Of course they would. Sharia Law would be next.

Outside of history classes, keep all religions out of schools.
