Not stopping there.A local (to me) library system was asked by their board to remove the LBTQ+ Pride month displays or risk funding cuts.
In my new county, and I think I mentioned this a few pages ago, our county council quietly held a cloture vote to rescind their Pride Month Celebration proclamation from the record. No announcements, just a procedure vote without mentioning what that proclamation was about. This was due to several church leaders complaining to Council members about celebrating the gays in a Christian community. This is also the same area that overwhelming voted out the GOP congressman that voted to impeach Trump.
But it's been slowly happening, and these rulings will empower even more of it.

Has Biden said go out and make your voice heard yet? Can't wait until nothing comes from the Jan 6 hearings. Dems are worthless.

Grim stuff here. This hack collection of judges really stepped in it here, now democrats forced to actually confront reality that the judges on the court are just a bunch of hacks

And, to be clear, despite evidence to the contrary and actions that I have taken, I think that is bad.

I remember being told that I was irrational for my fears on women's right, reproductive rights, and my queer rights. Today (and really the overall direction of the court with the other rulings this week) has really hit hard.
I live in a state where I have many protections, but I am upset for the country and people who live in more conservative states. And continue to worry where we are headed.

My wife knew all 3 around 2-3 weeksNearly all women most likely? My wife and I were hyper critical of pregnancy because it took us 2 years to conceive, and being critically on top of it - we still didn't find out until after six weeks. Probably around 7-8 I think based on timing.

People may know from home test, but by the time you get an appointment to confirm and make a decision you are past that time. Hell, they wouldn't even see me until I was 8 weeks as a part of procedure. That's like 6 weeks, I wonder how many people don't even know they're pregnant yet at that point

Very true. For our 3rd and current pregnancy, she wasn't even seen until her first sonogram around 10 or 12 weeks.People may know from home test, but by the time you get an appointment to confirm and make a decision you are past that time. I don't disagree, but this commentary is rich from a GOP voter (and someone that I assume supported all of McConnell's antics and the Trump SCOTUS nominations). Like, the criticism is that RBG didn't retire in 2013, I agree she should have, but like, shouldn't this really fall on the fed soc shitheads that put three ideologues on the court to pair with the two legacy garbage judges?I've already seen several people update their Facebook photos to that RBG silhouette...bit of cognitive dissonance there.
Like when do we get to hold conservatives accountable for being terrible as opposed to liberal not stopping them from being terrible.

This is what I was referring to. We knew from the home test - but based on getting seen it wasn't "confirmed" until after the six weeks mark. We had specialist doctors involved, were very keen on the process, and would still lose out in today's world lol.Very true. Operationally though, are people upset that this ruling is really a pushback to states rights, or is it because there needs to be blanket control from the overall government.
The hate big government in me actually finds it OK that states dictate what they do for their constituents.

I admittedly never thought Roe would get overturned--I thought that was a political/judicial hot potato. So clearly I was wrong there.I don't disagree, but this commentary is rich from a GOP voter (and someone that I assume supported all of McConnell's antics and the Trump SCOTUS nominations). I am pro-life in the majority of cases, but I've always felt the best way to lower abortions/unwanted pregnancies is through prevention, not legislation. Sex education, free access to birth control, etc. This ruling fills me with more generalized dread about the future of the country than anything else.

Half of positive pregnancy tests are just chemical pregnancies anyways. The fetus doesn’t take and a woman’s HCg levels drop to normal levels. Most people would never even know they were pregnant

I believe there are some rights that must be a blanket from the top. So I guess a nuance there? I'm not all big give or all states rights personally.Operationally though, are people upset that this ruling is really a pushback to states rights, or is it because there needs to be blanket control from the overall government.

With that said, I have never thought there was a constitutional right to abortion. The original 1973 ruling was a pretty gigantic leap in using the privacy clause. Setting the real-life implications of this overturning aside, it probably does make more sense for that to be left to the states. But that's easier said than done after Roe is settled law for a half century.

Right, I think there needs to be oversight across the board to keep some things in check. Abortion is probably one of them - but fundamentally, I like the states dictating the rules where I live.

This isn't a States' rights thing though, that is just a farce to make people believe that the opinion is rooted in some sort of technicality.Operationally though, are people upset that this ruling is really a pushback to states rights, or is it because there needs to be blanket control from the overall government.

I mean, we think that the state of MS should be allowed to determine whether abortion is legal, but NY can't make laws about concealed carry permits?

The constitution is stupid. It’s even stupider when the idea of an amendment to it is impossible
