I think so - at most this goes back to states limiting and choosing the laws of the states. That I really have no problem with. I have a problem with going back and re-settling on something that was already settled, technically.

There is a psychotic Republican running for governor who right now is polling within the margin of error who said he would outlaw it on day 1 if he’s elected

Do you blame RBG 100% here for not retiring when she should have? Have to assume yes.
Not 100%, I mean the real problem is the GOP, but surely she knew this was a real possibility. I'll say 30-40%. The frilly collar brigade however won't see it that way. Waiting to hear from them that she's crying in her special elevated RBG heaven or some ****.

It seems current PA legislation is 24 weeks. They'd have to introduce legislation to alter that, not sure what the midterm candidates are saying they'd do

Yep this is my position. Should have been with the states all along but it is what it is now and it's not bothering anyone so why upset the apple cart

Mastriano:

“The Heartbeat Bill was one of the first pieces of legislation that I introduced as a senator in 2019. The legislation requires physicians – before proceeding with an abortion – to determine whether the baby has a heartbeat. If the baby has a heartbeat, the abortion cannot be performed. No person with a beating heart, no matter how small, should be deprived of the fundamental right to life. A beating heart is an unmistakable sign of life. I was proud to reintroduce the Heartbeat bill in 2021 (SB 378), together with Rep. Stephanie Borowicz’s mirror legislation in the House.

“Once the repeal of Roe v. Wade is official, I am calling on the General Assembly to hold a vote on the Heartbeat bill. The time is now for action to protect the rights of the unborn.”

That's like 6 weeks, I wonder how many people don't even know they're pregnant yet at that point

You really haven’t been paying attention to what the right has been saying for years. These are things they have run on for years(overturning roe v wade).

Nearly all women most likely? My wife and I were hyper critical of pregnancy because it took us 2 years to conceive, and being critically on top of it - we still didn't find out until after six weeks. Probably around 7-8 I think based on timing.

Where are we anticipating the biggest impact of this decision to occur? I'm assuming places like Louisiana and Alabama and will obviously disproportionately impact minorities and the impoverished. Where else?
Have to see what anti-abortionists do next.

States like TX, LA, MO, MS, etc had already made abortion incredibly rare and difficult to obtain. So the immediate result is just the continuation of that trend. What we know is that DeSantis and Abbot are in perpetual races to the bottom for culture war nonsense, so their next step is to target women travelling to blue states to obtain abortions. If you listen to anti-abortion groups, you will understand quite clearly that their goal is not a situation where abortion restrictions are merely that you have to travel to a blue state to get one.

I know gaming out how bad GOP political actors will act in bad ways (see overturning roe v wade). But I would just ask that you entertain the possibility that they might do some bad things.

Funny how the extreme right tend to always make good on their promises pretty much as soon as they get the chance yet liberals keep on refusing to believe them. Not a chance Putin will invade Ukraine, amirite?

The progressives in conservatives states will move to blue states and the difference between the popular vote totals and electoral college will increase.

A local (to me) library system was asked by their board to remove the LBTQ+ Pride month displays or risk funding cuts.

In my new county, and I think I mentioned this a few pages ago, our county council quietly held a cloture vote to rescind their Pride Month Celebration proclamation from the record. No announcements, just a procedure vote without mentioning what that proclamation was about. This was due to several church leaders complaining to Council members about celebrating the gays in a Christian community. This is also the same area that overwhelming voted out the GOP congressman that voted to impeach Trump.

But it's been slowly happening, and these rulings will empower even more of it.
