Would love to see what happens when you shift US Border Patrol north and now Texas has to deal with immigrants on their own.

Good point. We should build the biggest wall you've ever seen around that border. It'll be yuge

Why is it so hard for people who have to resign from public office due to scandals to cease running for more public office?
Because they keep winning.

So Texas believes themselves to be so American, they don't want to be a part of America anymore?

So it’s just open season on homicidal fantasies.

Kind of why people were upset about the rittenhouse situation. Murdering your political enemies is bad

Many Democrats, including people on this board, have this precise "homicidal fantasy," except that they want the door-kickers to be collecting "assault weapons" from gun owners.

Seceding from the Union is the most American action you can take, theoretically...

Texas seceding and the GOP losing every subsequent election would be pretty funny though
Texit™ would reduce the electoral college down to 498 votes, 250 to win (if I'm doing the numbers right). It actually wouldn't be that hard at all for a GOP candidate to get to 250. I think just reversing the 2016-2020 red-to-blue flips would put the GOP candidate at around 235-240 or so.

In that situation, I think I might very much be interested in retaining the natural born citizenship requirement for POTUS.

Do the Texans lose their citizenship to the US when they leave our union? Or do they become dual citizens?

I have no idea. I guess it would be up to each of the countries, there isn't necessarily a definite answer either way.

I say no to dual citizenship and a huge Texit fee for all federal properties.

To be clear, Texas is chest thumping. They periodically get hopped up on their anti-littering sloganeering and think goin' all whoop ass will bring them Salvation. But a the end of the day they really are just a bunch of choads looking for a load to gargle. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

Sort of the "who cares" side, but always wondered why NJ din't let you pump gas. Never knew Oregon was the same.

I remember as a kid in the 80s you could chose to pump or have a service person do it. Also remember that pretty much being gone when I got my license in 1994.

Huh, always thought the NJ gas thing was a union ordeal. Still hate it. Sometimes I wait for a few minutes before any service person comes by, and it takes a while for them to run my CC

On a seperate but relate note on rents, I haven't been paying attention, did the freeze end as well? Between rising rent cost and people that haven't paid in almost 2 years, there are going to be some people in for a world of hurt.

What do you mean "freeze"? Do you mean the eviction moratorium? That expired (sorta) in summer 2021, Congress let it expire, then i think Biden did an unenthusiastic EO that SCOTUS nixed, or something along those lines.

If I'm a property owner who hasn't been paid in two years you're darn right the rent is going up. I've gotta recoup that money somehow.

What an adventure that tweet goes on.

After a day of yard work, I also think the chattel slavery system gets a bad wrap

Were landlords eligible for any of that PPP stuff or whatever it was designed to keep businesses afloat...?
