Roads were surprisingly good here in State College. The company my landlords hired to plow our road are a bunch of geniuses. It's a dead end road and we are the last house on the road. We park at the very end of the dead end street (as we were instructed to do by our landlord). The plow drivers didn't gave two f*cks and just plowed everything directly behind our cars.

Thanks guys! Nothing I like better than shoveling out a 5 foot snow mound at 7 in the morning!

The rain has turned to sleet. My wife is staying with some classmates tonight at SRU to avoid tomorrow morning being bad. I was able to pull my car into the garage in her spot right as it began to ice. Sweet.
I hear Butler area is a mess. Power lines down everywhere. Someone on Facebook said Walmart is even closed. People are probably preparing to riot.
SRU ended up having a two hour delay today which for them I imagine is substantial.

PSU closed early yesterday and is completely closed today. My guess is they just didn't think it was worth it to have classes the day before break.

Just a bit south in Butler a ton of places still don't have power. I'm surprised they didn't get hammered up there as well.

What I learned from this is that a California on fire is still generally less polluted than India. God damn.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Teens are having strokes over there, it's not good.

My wife went to Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. Every picture she has from there has a haze to it that looks similar (but worse) to the picture tif posted of his smoky neighborhood.

Saw the same thing on some Discovery channel shows in the past. It's bad enough in China that they have high resolution backdrops plastered on walls for visitors to take scenic photos of what it would look like without the smog. I'll see if I can dig up a photo of that.

Edit: That was easy.

Again, we're 170 miles from the fire. And looking at that index, note that San Jose is more like 200+ miles from the fire.

How Much Hose??? 500,000' = 94 Miles

Hose recovery and cleanup from the Camp Fire has begun. Thanks a million to the CCC Shasta Crew 20 for taking on such a huge task...you guys rock.

That’s just to get it on pallets to get it back to the cache. Then it gets unrolled, tested, washed, dried, rolled again, palletized again at the rehab center in West Redding. From there it goes back to the cache to be re-inventoried. Then the cache determines how much didn’t come back, failed test or damaged and unusable.

Big snowstorm shaping up for the weekend into Monday. The question now, is if it will be a big snowstorm for places like Virginia and the Carolinas, or if it will be able to pivot far enough north to bring us snow. The Euro showed a slight trend north in the precip shield last night, but there is a big blocking high up in Canada that may keep this thing south.

Coastal south Jersey is getting whacked with a pretty unique winter storm, caused by a Norlun Trough. 3-6" falling down around Atlantic City, Ocean City, etc, but places like Cape May and up to Philadelphia/Trenton aren't going to get anything.

Man, the Carolinas are getting crushed right now. That damn high pressure up here kept this storm south.

I have a nice thin layer of ice, then about 3 inches of snow. It’s sleeting now, so I’m sure the roads are a royal mess.

My aunt in Greensboro got about a foot. That's freakishly weird amount, especially this early in the season.

I had 35° rain for two days.
