An EF2 is pretty serious business for our neck of the woods.

Hurricane Michael about to slam right into the Redneck Riviera. Destin is where I vacation every year. I hope it survives.

The one saving grace with this storm is that it will exit stage right fairly quickly. Storm surge/wind the biggest threats.

We're already getting rain from it, and will continue to see rain and wind until early Friday.

Note that some counties were still flooded from Florence two weeks ago...and just reopened schools early last week.

We're good with precip for the time being.

So we go from summer-like temps today in the 80s to a good chance of seeing frost on the window Saturday morning?

PA weather, it's fannnnnntastic!

I heard on NPR a few weeks ago that the tourist industry in New England, and especially PA is having a down year. A lot of last minute cancellations in PA due to the hot and wet weather delaying the foliage.

My wife and I had signed up to do a quick photo session with our daughter this weekend, but the photographer just e-mailed and asked if we'd be okay with shifting it to a couple weekends from now as their having trouble finding a spot that looks like fall. We welcomed the shift as it makes this weekend less packed, but still. Really odd weather this year.

I took my Mom on a foliage tour last weekend that we scheduled a few months ago. A bit of a dud.

There were quite a few through bikers on the GAP trail last weekend. They had probably planned to do the trail in hopes of enjoying the foliage. Instead, they got to ride through large puddles of mud with high heat and humidity.

Jeez, this is a worst case scenario from a strength perspective. It is strengthening right up to landfall, basically the exact opposite of Florence. Up to 150 mph winds now. It is going to still be a Category 1 hurricane as it moves through much of Georgia.
