There was a tornado warned storm near IUP last night. I could actually see the storm cloud forming looking down 28 from the RD Fleming Bridge. Massive thunderhead. Not surprised there were tornado warnings with it. Thing was so tall that it was starting to create clouds around the top after breaking the troposphere.

I really don't mind it. Having lived in the deep South for 10 years now it has no affect.

Heavy rain storm literally just blew in. Was calm,I looked away for 5 seconds, heavy wind and rain picked up massively, and just as quickly as it blew in, it's now just normal rain and minimal wind.

I've lived down here for almost 30 years and I have come to terms with it. I would rather it be 80 with low humidity, but it is what it is. What I loathe is the upper 80s/low 90s in mid October. Enough already.I really don't mind it. Having lived in the deep South for 10 years now it has no affect.

Well that was fun... woke up at 12:30 to tornado sirens going off. 5 minutes later we (wife, son, dog and I) are in a tornado shelter. 5 minutes after that a tornado goes right by our neighborhood and house. Outside of trees down everywhere, I think no other damage to our neighborhood.

I don’t know how people live in tornado areas. I would be terrified all day.

You only have to worry about them usually during specific types of storm systems.I don’t know how people live in tornado areas. I would be terrified all day.

OmgomgomgI have been learned. Thank you bug guythere are many different cicada broods (15+). each brood has a different life cycle. some are 13, some are 17. each of them is not on the same cycle, so we are blessed with frequent cicada broods. get with it nerd.this sht happens every other year.. i thought it was supposed to be every 17 years or somethingProbably isn't the right place for this, but the cicadas are coming!

The cicadas are here
My daughter better get used to them or it’s going to be a long couple of months.

Areas affected...portions of the Mid-Atlantic into the Northeast
Concerning...Severe potential...Tornado Watch likely
Valid 281702Z - 281900Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent
SUMMARY...Storms are expected to develop this afternoon and will
likely become severe. Large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few
tornadoes are possible. A tornado watch will likely be issued in the
next couple of hours.
DISCUSSION...A belt of enhanced mid-level westerly flow of 50-70
knots is stretching across the Great Lakes into the
Mid-Atlantic/Northeast. A shortwave trough embedded within this
zonal flow currently entering the Great Lakes region will move
eastward throughout the day helping to provide forcing for ascent
and strengthen deep layer shear. A surface low is located just
east-southeast of Buffalo, NY with a warm front stretching to the
southeast through northeast PA and central NJ. This warm front
should lift east-northeast with the surface low forecast to track
generally eastward. The Cu field is becoming increasingly agitated
within the warm sector and storms are likely to develop in the next
couple of hours.
Storms are likely to develop across west/central PA and move
east-southeast during the afternoon and evening into portions of
NJ/MD/DE/southern NY. Supercell development is likely and few storms
may remain discrete. Low-level veering is better to south/east
across the region, but flow/shear is stronger farther to the north.
Large hail is possible given forecast MLCAPE of 1500-3000 J/kg and
effective bulk shear of 35-50 knots. Additionally, strong synoptic
winds and steepening low-level lapse rates, especially where strong
insolation occurs, will increase the severe wind threat. Tornadoes
are possible as well, especially for storms that exhibit more
southeast movement, which will maximize SRH per observed/forecast
soundings.
