Heard some rooves were were torn off and a tree landed on a car with a person trapped. All in Hampton.

We got the tornado warning on our phones as we were putting the kids to bed. I have never seen the poor boys so terrified in their lives. Felt really bad for them, but we still took them to the basement to read books as a precaution.

We were already in the basement when it came across watching a movie. My wife's biggest fear is getting sucked up by a tornado. We watched the news for a bit told her it looked like it was not going to directly hit us but we could go hide in the downstairs bathroom with the dogs if she wanted. Thankfully even though we had the warning here in Monroeville ...didn't really get hit.

NWS confirmed 3 tornadoes. 1 in Hampton, 1 in Washington County, and one near Mt. Nebo which is maybe 2 miles from my place.

Didn't even realize it got that close. I saw the lightning then heard the rain pick up hard for about 35 seconds then it was done.

I swear there’s been more confirmed tornadoes in the Pittsburgh area this year than the rest of my life combined.

I feel like when I was growing up all the tornadoes were explained away as microbursts. A distinction without a difference if it was your roof.

Someone on Reddit did some research:

Between 1950 and 2020, there were 11 recorded tornadoes in the month of October in the NWS Pittsburgh region. This year, there have been at least 8 (5 last weekend, at least 3 confirmed yesterday).

There's also this going from 1950-2018:

Windy and rainy forecast this week. The leaves have barely started to change here and methinks that the majority of them will be on the ground by Saturday.

Picked up well over an inch of wind blown rain last night. My yard was overseeded two weeks ago so will be nice to not drag the sprinkler around the yard today.

Haven't cut my grass since it was seeded... I'm dreading that undertaking.

Trick or treat is tomorrow and my daughter's party is Saturday. Pouring rain and 50 mph wind gusts tomorrow, crappy for the first half of the weekend at least too.
