Yup, a lot of people do not realize just how high NW Texas and the Texas panhandle sits. Lubbock is at 3200 feet, and Amarillo is even higher at 3600 feet. The weather is no joke up there.I was surprised to learn that Lubbock gets snow accumulation on a fairly regular basis. Must be the elevation.

I've been there a couple times, most recently we had a bad hailstorm that put a coating of ice on the roads briefly. Everyone there with me was from Houston and were like- glad you're driving!
Apparently they get that quite often also.

Strong signal for a coastal storm next weekend. Obviously a lot can change between now and then, so I am fully expecting disappointment. Take any model snow map more than 24-48 hours out with a major grain of salt.

Holy sht. This could be a historic storm for a lot of folks if it holds. This might be the best model run DC has ever had for a snowstorm.

Wow....massive run from the 12Z Euro. Absolute crush job for a very large chunk of the northeast, and western PA gets in on a lot of snow action too courtesy of the primary low that makes it as far east as Ohio, before transferring energy to the coastal storm. My house is directly in the middle of that bullseye over eastern Lancaster County, lol.

The "jump" in the low pressure system on this GIF is when the primary low pressure system transfers its energy to the coastal storm, allowing it to bomb out. This would be a rare "Chicago to Philadelphia" jackpot, which doesn't happen too often.
