imo the over-arching dissatisfaction with PGH weather is a good take; dodint is however misdirecting his angst. The target is not a blue sky, sunny, hot day in late September (indeed, that is a great thing). The target should be the looming gray blanket that will soon envelop us all and block out the mother sun from November through March.

He's right.
Not 'Om, his takes are trash. But slappy is right. The centerpiece of my discontent is the endless grayness of fall and winter. I had a much bigger problem with it when I was younger. I'm just so over the heat. Maybe living in Wisconsin where I could use my hammock and go outside without immediately sweating through my clothes has made me soft, but I really loathe days like today. Objectively they're not bad in and of themselves, but when they're part of three+ months of alternating between deluge rain storms and hot/humid days I've had enough.
Maybe I just need a real vacation.

Oh believe me I know about the tunnels. I lived in Bellevue and worked in Murrysville. I assumed you'd need to use the tunnels if you go to Latrobe.I lived in Greensburg two winters ago. It's the number one reason in the 'No' column for me. My mortgage is $1500 a month or so. I commute to the city at most 13 times a month. I'm going to spend the next six months or so trying to figure out if it's worth $115/day to endure that parkway. The wildcard is mass transit is free for me, and the bus uses the busway, so I can realistically avoid it if I'm willing to ride.

The weather this year has been soul crushing. It's been a humid version of spring with no end in sight. I've never wanted to leave western PA as much as I have this year.
