I don't know the story behind it so don't blame me, but I'm sure some egghead already explained how it is fake and couldn't happen.

I just assumed the house was being renovated without heat/insulation and it froze. The tank cracked, the people broke away the rest and took the picture.

Yes, the inside temperature quickly adjusts to the outside if the house is not heated. My older daughter was born in Minnesota (and for about 1 week after she was born, the temperature dropped to -30 during nights (roughly where Celsius and Fahrenheit intersect :) ) - I still remember the steel window frames cracking noises), and when she was about 3 weeks old, I flew back to Fayetteville to prepare our house for the move that was to happen 1 week later. When I entered home, I could read 34F on the inside thermostat - because our HVAC system completely blew up.

The fastest house repair I have ever made in my life...

Am I a punk for driving cautiously in -5 weather even though the roads are treated?
Ugh....don't be one of *those* people.

Driving home last night I was in a line of 14 cars stuck behind someone "cautiously" going 25-30 in a 45 zone. It was annoying

That said, one of the disadvantages of living in Amish Country is that you get a ton of snow blown onto the roads from the fields because there the huge flat areas. It can make roads stay bad for days after a snow event.
I wasn't going that slow. More like 5-10 under depending on the road. To be fair, the last time I was on these roads, it was slip 'n slide central.
Well salt doesnt work below 18 so.
At this point, they might be able to spread you all over the roads. There's enough salt here to thaw every road in the Commonwealth.

Yep. Untreated. My bus crawled into town from Shadyside. Roads were that bad.

Google said it would take me 105 minutes to get to work today for what is a 20 minute trip without traffic. I'm not spending 3+ hours in a car today; WFH again.

I moved in April 2017. I used to ride Westmoreland Transit but now I am a mere 10 miles from my office. No bus service on Rt. 8 though so I have to either drive, or park in Troy Hill which is already 7 miles into my 10 mile commute. The only reason to do it would be to save on parking since my work pays for the bus if used.
