Second time this summer I did something around the house all day Sunday and said "I'll just mow the lawn real quick after work Monday" and woke up to an out-of-nowhere warm front that is soaking the neighborhood. At least I'm teleworking today as I bet 28 is a parking lot since the surface is a little damp.

I cut the grass for hopefully the last time until next spring on saturday afternoon. Saw rain was coming today. Well I cut the back and the side cause I wasn't removing all the halloween decorations in the front and then moving them back just to cut the grass haha.

Rain was forecast for 'late' on Monday, figured I could get a mow in and then have it rain real nice. Woke up to a full downpour.

Gonna suck when its time to mulch leaves again. Hopefully we get some dry days for them to air out.

Just in time for fall, SoCal is under a red flag warning for low humidity and high fire danger as the Santa Ana winds are in full force. Temps predicted in the low 100's all-week. Hotter here this week than Las Vegas or Phoenix.

Wednesday is the first day of the year for leaf collection. I will have only 4 bags. I've averaged 10-15 every month during collection time the past 2 years.

In all honesty, I miss the heat (mostly because we had a pool). But I've about had it up to here with fires.

..."cross over the Doppler"....??

Ignorant to believe in wackadoddle nonsense, literate enough to know Doppler is a proper noun.

It was nice to have almost a month plus of no air or heater running, but today is the day the thermostat gets flipped to heat.

I finally logged into my DuqLight account for the first time. It says that we're using 11% more power than our neighbors. I can't see how that's possible unless the empty houses on the street are still being metered and pulling down the average.

While at work today, received an alert from a neighbor that our Canyon was now a wildfire and our fire department was asking for voluntary evacuations.

Arrived home to find the fire was not in our Canyon, but the next one over that is heavily traveled by those that commute thru the area to get to work.

Our outside air smells of deep, burnt weeds, wood, and trash. Cooled ashes are raining down everywhere. 1 more day of Diablo Winds!

Tired of these fires. Tif, I agree. Can't sip a margarita by the pool when the hills are ablaze...

In SC too? Wow. I would have expected a freeze up here, but we are just under a frost advisory.

Nor'Easter still in play this weekend. The Euro wants to bring it in much closer (and slower), with monsoon rains throughout the day on Sunday. GFS has it further out to sea and out of here faster, hence less rain. This is the current WPC outlook:

Looks like it will be a nice-ish day for Halloween in the 'burgh. 52 for the high, and partly sunny.

Which begs the question. . . .does @dodint give out candy?

Absolutely. Full sized bars, we're the kings of College Park.

(Really it's just a bribe to keep unruly devil spawn from corning/egging our house.)

(Do kids still do that?)

Unrelated; I'm hoping to ride my motorcycle one last time tonight. Might be a bit too chilly for the wife even with the heated seat, though.
