@count2infinity what are conditions like up in Centre right now? You guys are getting a really nasty ice storm it appears. Don't see many Ice Storm Warnings.

Pretty thick sheet of ice out there. Stores shelves were pretty empty last night with students moving back and the ice storm looming. Our road hasn’t been treated yet, but I’m not running to Reddit to make a thread about it.

We're headed out to PSU shortly. Looks like things should be clear by the time we get there but I've been ordered to make a Wegman's run. We'll see.
Probably stopping for lunch at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub on the way

Wegmans was wiped clean last night, but they were working on restocking as I was shopping. Best of luck.

I used to travel to the power plant in Shawville a few times a year for work. There are worse places to spend an evening. That’s about a mile from my house. Pretty icy here this morning. We were supposed to meet my parents at Otto's and exchange Christmas presents since COVID wrecked our holiday plans, but they're in Williamsport and apparently the ice is much worse to the east. Mom didn't want to drive.

My neighbor retired from the Shawville plant about 5 years ago. It was converted from coal to natural gas.

Yep, I had to divest our inventory for the coal systems. We don't own it anymore.

I shoveled ours today...not fun. I also have to figure out what I can put down on our new driveway to melt snow/ice. I remember our concrete guy saying rock salt was bad, as well as the calcium chloride stuff I used last year. It's sealed, but he still recommended not using that stuff I think.

Models still all over the place, but definite signal for a potential storm late this weekend. This is just one model run and IS NOT A FORECAST
Very active pattern at the moment.

Did you end up buying anything yet? I got a new concrete driveway last summer, and the calcium chloride that my guy told me was safe was not. It did a little chipping. Storm signal still there. Models have the low pressure center tracking up through the Susquehanna Valley right now, which would place the heaviest axis of snow across western PA.
Still a few days to go but it's there

Now that I work from home on days of my own choosing, I've really been hoping for a nice snowfall to hit so I can just chill in my sweatpants and look at it

Honestly, this is the best setup for a major snowstorm Western PA has had in years. Usually these storms either stay just off the coast or get suppressed to the south. You have a perfect mix of extremely cold air locked in prior to the event, and a storm center that is going to track up through eastern Pennsylvania somewhere.
I am not looking forward to it. With the storm tracking so close to us here in SEPA, winds are going to be awful, just hoping we end up in the dry slot and not with two inches of wind-blown rain.
Still a few days away, but all the ingredients are there. Latest model runs:

*sigh*
I'll have to bring the snowblower up from the basement. WU is forecasting 7" for Sunday and 2" on Monday, and that's been increasing all week.

Thank goodness I have MLK day off, as do the kids. Wife is going to try to work that day.
