My wife is running in the Pittsburgh Marathon.
That's really impressive given the medical issues she has faced. Tell her congrats and good luck from 5AF.

She is slacking, only doing the Relay this year. But she is my much better half, regardless. I will send along your kind words.

Yeah it sucks, but it will help the grass seed I just put down.

After a pretty miserable weekend coming up (it's not supposed to get above 50 here on Sunday...WTF), it looks like the first shot of warm, humid air is coming to PA mid-week next week. Highs in the low to mid 80s with dew points creeping up into the 60s.

It's crazy. I work 20 miles inland and it was hot and muggy, pushing 90 yesterday. I drive to my rental house, 1/2 mile from the beach and it's 75 with a cool breeze coming off the water. I forgot how severe that can be.

Also, I extended my month-to-month lease through June...so ya boy will be beachin' it until then. After work ocean swims for the first time in close to 20 years? Hell yes.

That was the best part about living at the state park on the beach in NC. I'd work all day in the heat and then go right down to the water at 5pm and swim. Two of the best summers of my life.

It took every fiber of my being to get myself to work today instead of turning around, getting my clubs, and heading to the course. What a beauty of a day it's looking to be.

Being in Florida for the week where it's been about 82 all day for several days makes me wonder why I live in Pittsburgh. Hurricanes I guess

A summer in Florida is the definition of hell on earth.

Yea, get back to me when you need to wear a suit in July in Florida for a presentation. I do not miss the high temps, crazy high humidity, and the 2-3:30 PM rain almost every single day depending on where you are in the state.

The older I get, the more I understand snowbirding.

I was talking to a snowbird the other day. She said with things warming up her time down south is only like four months a year now.

My wife has family that take an RV down and said the exact same thing. They came home almost a month earlier than normal due to the heat.

Still worth it. A Pittsburgh winter is almost as miserable as a Florida summer.

I've lived through both and totally disagree. The heat/humidity is unrelenting for over six months of the year but you don't get sub freezing temps for that period of time.

That's why snowbirding seems worth it to me, even if it's only 4 months out of the year.

And it's not just the sub-freezing temps that makes a Pittsburgh winter miserable.

The difference would be the amount of sunshine. In both cases you are living indoors for 6 months, it just varies what time of year you are indoors.

We'll end up being snowbirds. We're not going to sell my wife's childhood home here in PA. It'll end up being our summer vacation home.

I’m heading to San Diego in about a month. I was there about 4 or 5 years ago and the weather is the same every single day. Mid/upper 70s and sunny. Completely understand why people find it an attractive place to live.

Yeah southern California is much better climate wise than Florida. If I'm going to snowbird, I would look there before Florida.

Yup, San Diego / Carlsbad / Oceanside area is absolutely where I would want to live, no questions asked. Beautiful location, almost perfect weather, but you have to watch, stray too far away from the oceans going inland and the temperature rises dramatically lol.
