I love snow. Snowblower city has made it that much easier to deal with.

It's been almost thirty years, but I don't remember a lot of snow in my four winters in Pittsburgh. I remember it being really bitterly cold, but nothing like the house burying snow we had in Massachusetts.

I remember my mother, very pregnant, shoveling off our roof one storm, while my dad was stuck at work in Boston. Snow drifts right to the roof...

The weather pattern the last several years has just screwed you guys. It's been the big coastal storms that have dumped huge snowfalls in eastern PA. You guys generally get more on average, it's just been tough luck.

Craptastic viewing conditions for the Geminids Wednesday night...that's a bummer. Forecast is for up to 60 meteors per hour before midnight, and up to 120/hr in dark conditions after midnight.

Define tough luck. Because for some that would mean getting a ton of snow and being miserable shoveling/snowblowing and driving through it and getting slush on everything and being cold and miserable

Since I've been in Pittsburgh for 11 years now, I can remember 1 maybe 2 times I had to dig my car out from snow. Other than that, just bitter cold and wind.

I love basic astronomy sites like this.

This is my favorite time of year for the winter sky. Orion, Sirius, Gemini, the Pleiades, Auriga, Taurus, etc all rising brightly in the eastern sky, while the Summer Triangle still holds serve in the high western sky.

That said the forecast is already starting to dial back. 2" down from 3" and the duration has tightened considerably.

Solid 2-4" around the immediate Allegheny County area. Will be enough to whiten things up nicely.
