A winter storm that initially looked like it would be yet another miss to the south (and giving Richmond yet their second blizzard of this relatively young winter) is starting to trend back north on the most recent model runs. These are the NWS forecasts from earlier this morning, but wouldn't be surprised if these get updated if the trend continues northward.

does it count as a snow "storm" if there is like 2 inches of accumulation in pgh and 4 in the mountainous areas?

Some dude on KDKA last night said we were gonna get 2-5 inches in the city. Believe it when I see it.

Late news? At 6pm, they said maybe an inch, with most of it in the south.

Weather Channel says an inch in the city. But they are usually wrong.

Considering Pittsburghers suck at driving in inclement weather, yes. Yes it does. A sh*t storm.

I honestly can't remember, but they said they were thinking the models were off and we're going to dump a higher amount of snow. I quickly glanced past it because I found it unbelievable.

I'm throwing a house party this weekend with some friends coming in from Cleveland/Cincy/Lycippus. So, first significant snow to hit on Saturday afternoon, natch.

You hate Pittsburgh.

Every time I have invited people from here to these things I get 0% response. The only one I invited this time was Tony just because I feed off of his rejection.

Doesn't start till 5pm tomorrow, you have time mikey. I have at least one couch left. Maybe even a pull-out king if Cincy guy doesn't show.

There is a atmospheric feature coming out of Canada called a Tropopause Polar Vortex that is suppressing this storm south, and why it's not going to lead to a larger snowfall in this area. You can see it clearly in these two images from the last two model runs. Look at the strong northwesterly winds driving down from Canada into New England. The more that presses south, the more it suppresses the low pressure system and just results in dry, cold air.
