Micro/downburst in the first one?
:thumb:

Storms are so cool...when the temperature plummets and wind picks up suddenly as a storm approaches , that's the cold air being driven down from miles high in the atmosphere and and slammed into the ground. The gust front is like the shockwave before the real stuff arrives.

And when you happen to be right near where that downburst is hitting the ground, you are getting the wind at its highest velocity.

The sky last night was amazing. Went from light orange to pink to purple. 10 minutes later, gray clouds totally consumed the sky, and about an hour later a heavy downpour.

Since nothing is being done to slow this down, I guess this is just a weather story now:

Things I like: golfing, kayaking, hiking, biking.
Things I don't like: Sitting inside for 8 months of PA fallwinterspring.

(Yes, I know, that's a power narcissist observation but I'll be damnned if it doesn't work on a practical level.)

Played some indoor volleyball in a gym with no a/c tonight. Not the best idea. Not the best.

I have had my weather station for three years, to this date the highest temperature it ever recorded was 94.5 on August 13 of last year.

Interestingly, the highest heat index and dew point it ever recorded were two days prior to that, on 8/11/2021. 81.9 F dew point for a heat index of 115. That record will definitely be tested on Sunday, current forecast high is 97.

Going out at noon to do yard work was a bad idea. It’s miserable outside.

Locally, 3.72" of rain on the month.

A whopping 79.3% of that total fell from getting bullseyed by tiny storms between 7/6-7/9. The last twenty days, we've eked out three quarters of an inch in dribs and drabs.

Feast or famine indeed.

Got a nice rainfall last night, 0.87".

I have noticed that the most frequent and prolonged lightning always comes after the main line of storms moves through. We had steady rain with cloud to cloud lightning for a solid two hours last night. Was a nice show.

Spend some time in Vegas (or Phoenix, or wherever in the southwest). It'll still be 80+° like 30 minutes before sunrise. And then it just goes up and up and up...........

They've been talking for a week here about how unbearably muggy it is, monsoonal moisture, flash thunderstorms and flooding, etc.

I looked up the humidity, and it's a whopping 28%. lol

I walked 9 holes in roughly 90 degree heat index and zero shade on vacation. Zero complaints about that heat. But a man (and his dog) deserves a cool summer night ever once in a while to get a good walk
