Next weekend is looking cold (highs likely not getting out of the 40s) and cloudy for the entire state. Precipitation should be limited to nil.

I haven't been able to do any yard work in three weeks because it's rained on the weekends. Can't mow the leaves/grass when it's wet, and nothing has dried out for long enough to do anything.

I thought I was ready for fall, but I forgot how annoying it is having to put layers on every time I go outside.

In related news, modeling suggesting we could see our first flakes (and possibly even a coating in places?) by the end of the weekend.

A buddy of mine in Western NC is excited about the slight chance of snow. Good for you, pal.

Mt. Mitchell state park shut down for a day last week because it snowed there.

Love the panic button reporting going on. Let's skew our graph so that it looks like a huge dip in temperature. As if 32 degrees is some magical data point where you start to wear hats and gloves.

That, and they're overnight lows. It's going to be sunny and high 40s during the day. I plan to golf at least once this week.

Finally caved and turned the heat on. Got to 64 in the house. I feel like a failure.

Going to be in the mid-60s and sunny all next week. I'm taking next Friday off for a four-day weekend. I plan to golf at least two of those days.

Our front door gets installed tomorrow (supposedly). I need to paint it, our shutters, powerwash and paint our porch. Next week seems like a good week for it.

I keep the heat at 70 almost 24/7. We have a little one, and the upstairs does not warm like the downstairs does.

I know it's not green, although any time we are out or away I turn it down to 55. I know I probably pay a few extra hundred dollars in propane every heating season, but with as much time as I spend in my home, I want to be comfortable.

I know this isn't you, but the contest to see who can stand it the coldest is so dumb to me.

Several models hinting at a major cold outbreak just beyond the middle of November.
