I'm sure you all understand that, despite DST, the sun is not out as long up here in the winter as it is in the summer.

I'm sure you understand the cyclic nature of seasons and the rhythmic passing of time. Specifically how jarring it can be when it's disrupted semiannually for completely arbitrary reasons.

Or, possibly, you don't.

The days are inexorably getting shorter, but losing an hour of daylight in the middle of the evening is a shock to the system. I don't give a flying **** if it stays dark until 8 AM, as a matter of fact, I would love it because that means no sun glare on my inevitable eastbound commute once we return to the office in 2026.

Due to my mostly-working-from-home schedule, in which I'm basically nocturnal, the days getting shorter means that it might now still be dark when I go to bed.

Yep, Saturday is going to be the last really humid day here and then the fall air will be moving in. Just in time for the equinox.

Windy as hell this morning.

We've had about a tenth of an inch of rain in the last 2.5 weeks, since we got all the flooding rain from Ida. Feast or famine.

This cold front is no joke. It was 74 degrees at 9:20 AM, dropped to 60 degrees at 10:05 AM.

Over two inches of rain, thankfully no basement issues.
