Denver is known for their crazy swings in weather in the spring and autumn, but this is insanity.Girl I know is headed out there and posted a screen grab of her weather app. I just thought it was glitch but its real.
Record highs expected at Denver this weekend. Followed by the first accumulating September snow in twenty years on Monday. Oh, and possible record low temperatures Monday night.
Those weather systems that work down through the Rockies from the Pacific are no joke.

Today was an A+ day to take a long weekend and do some yard work.

Yep. Early dismissal at 2pm so I mowed the grass and relaxed this evening by the fire.

Stopped at Sheetz in Troutman NC on the way back. I forgot what 75 degrees and low humidity felt like.

My car thermometer read 126F an hour ago, and the unlit candles on our patio are melting. (Actual temp in the west Valley is around 116F)
And a wildfire has sparked in our old neighborhood.

Confirmed: The actual high temp here in the Valley today was 121F. Hottest temp ever recorded in LA County. Woohoo.

If it did drop below 30F in
Denver Wednesday morning, it would be the earliest 20s ever
recorded, and only four days after our latest 100F ever.

A few of my friends live in the Denver exurbs. Roughly 100F heat over the weekend, today it snowed.
Eff that noise.

Man, this storm is moving slooooowly. Worst case scenario track for New Orleans... Obviously not as strong as Katrina but it's going to be driving several days worth of storm surge into Lake Pontchartrain.
Not to mention the rainfall. My mom and sister live in southwest Alabama and they are right in the 15-20" rainfall area. Worried about flooding there.

Left my non-thermostat window AC unit on when I left for work today. Got home at 7pm and it was 62F outside.

Isn't that particularly bad for NOLA because they're in the lee of the storm? Doesn't the rotation of a hurricane make being on the west side of it worse than being on the east?Man, this storm is moving slooooowly. Worst case scenario track for New Orleans... You're close. Whatever side of the storm shares its forward motion is the worst side to be in. So for a storm moving WNW like Sally has been, the northern side of the storm is worst, as it is just driving storm surge in the same direction for days on end.Isn't that particularly bad for NOLA because they're in the lee of the storm? Track shifted east a little again, looks like it is going to go right over my mom and sister's now. Good news is the slow movement has churned up some cold water from under the surface which has weakened it a bit. It actually hit major hurricane status briefly last night but "down" to 85 mph.
