Icon is snowier for PA, but still has that pesky warm nose that comes into western PA. Like I said the other day, it's that counter-clockwise flow pumping warm air up the western side of the mountains. Definitely gonna have mixing issues Route 22 and south. Just not enough cold air entrenched to keep things on the snowy side.

Gonna be a great event for places like State College.

It does show a switch to snow as the coastal low takes over and pumps in cold air on the back side. Even places in north central PA could mix for a time.

Sorry, the NWS office in Pittsburgh has not updated their snow map for the weekend storm, it's just for this afternoon/tonight's event.

You're wasting your life getting your Ph.D. Snow fall doesn't matter for you. You'll just continue wasting away regardless of what the weather is.

Such a disappointment.
Blame the TPV (Tropopause Polar Vortex). It has a major impact on weather in the mid-latitudes, and the interaction with the TPV with this storm is pulling it northward faster into the northern jet stream. For the last major winter storm that blasted Richmond and the Carolinas, I was rooting for that confluence because it would have pulled the low pressure center further north bringing PA into play. In this scenario, there's too much confluence because the low is already too far north. People WAY overhype the polar vortex, like it's surprising that Arctic air masses move into the Lower 48. But it most certainly has an impact on the weather and where storms go in this area, and it makes forecasting very difficult.

Winter weather is an incredibly fickle beast.

Please shadjinx the poopity poop out of this storms impact on western PA, so that I do not get roped into snow removal on Sunday morning.

My dad gave me his snow blower since they're moving to Florida. I would like to try it out on Sunday. Please shadjinx the poopity poop out of Kane's request and let the snow gods storm down.

Normally I'd agree with you nocera, but I don't want to come into work on the weekend for that crap.

:fist: I wouldn't wish weekend work on anyone, so I suppose I can hold off on the snowblower until a weekday.
