The Berks County (Reading) to Allentown area is getting absolutely crushed tonight. This image shows vertically integrated liquid...basically, the higher the cloud tops, the higher the rain falls from, and thus you get hail. This is an absurdly large hail core, you rarely see this in PA:

I’ve been to work locations in the Mojave desert probably 10-15 times and had never seen it rain out there until this week. It was really pretty cool.
It doesn’t rain often in the desert but when it does, it rains, man.

Yeah. I have only seen it rain once in the Mojave. Really exposes just how **** dirty everything is.

Was the wettest summer on record here in State College, and man did it feel like it. Just storm after storm, flood after flood. Kind of a crazy summer, and it's not even over yet.

Yup, it's brutal. This summer sucks. Humid ALL the time, constant rain, mosquitoes worse than ever, etc. I cannot wait for fall and winter. Was the wettest summer on record here in State College, and man did it feel like it. Same here. Could honestly live back in NC if it's going to be this way. I keep telling my wife PA has no redeeming value.

It's funny, for a long time I was certain I would want to move south at some point. The problem is, you have to go a long way north to escape the summer heat. As I was watching bald faced hornets and yellow jackets go to town on my daughter's wooden swingset today (just taking the wood back to their nests I think), all I could think about was how much I can't wait for everything to be cold and dead again

I love living in the South.
The heat doesn't bother me at all.

Enjoy the nice weather at the end of this week. Because from about next Wednesday through Labor Day weekend, it's going to be hot as balls. Not how I want to start September.
Weather Thread
No, it can't. I'm having big party that weekend (the 1st) and it involves being outside for most of Saturday. Fix it, shaf.
Weather Thread
Actually, high-80s on Labor Day is fine. Dog days of summer n'at. Just keep that precip to yourself.

Yeah mid eighties during the day are NBD as long as it cools off at night...nothing higher than 70° as a low.

Camping in the Adirondacks Labor Day weekend, so this is unwelcome news. After that it'll be 65 where we're going up in Quebec. This will double the size of our luggage since my wife will just pack winter clothes and summer clothes for the entire trip.

Low temperatures dipping down into the mid-60s or lower definitely makes a big difference in terms of perception.
I decided to take a PTO day on Thursday. It is forecast to be no higher than the mid 70s here, mid 50s in the morning, and sunny all day with a wonderful light north breeze. Philadelphia Airport's dew point is forecast to be below 60 for the first time since July 29.
Cannot wait for mid-September onward when dews are routinely in the 40s and 50s and you start getting those cool, crisp mornings.

That's about 5 min from my folk's place. Glad my dad is retired and didn't get called out to work with all the storms this summer.
