I'm annoyed I'm going to have to shovel the driveway today.

Schools closed here. I think we have a little over 2" of snow on the ground.

If only we had reported on this snow for a week. Seems like when it occurs in a workday no one GAF. But the weekend we have plow trucks parked every 5 miles waiting for it to come (soaking up the double time)

Again though no remote instruction. So I'm not sure how this works.

Yeah, ours was a normal snow day, so no instruction. I imagine that if we hit the limit of allowable snow days, the next one turns into virtual learning, which is fine by me.

PPS has 2 built in snow days before remote learning starts. They do not have to make up those 2 days. Seems like a decent compromise. When I was a kid, we had 2 or 3 built in snow days before we had to start making up days. I'd much rather have had a couple freebies then have to sit on the computer instead of going later in June.

So we probably have 2-3 inches on snow on the ground. I am debating using the snowblower, or just driving over top of it until it melts. Decisions, decisions.

I threw salt down last night so I'm hoping it's just a quick shovel job when I get back home

I'm going to send my kid out to shovel since she wanted this snow so much.

We have closer to 3 or 4 inches here. Everything canceled. I’m anticipating a 2 hour delay tomorrow just due to the cold.

I just realized that I may not have much calcium chloride left. Oof.

I have 2 full jugs but they've calcified together (who knows how long the previous owner had them, but thankful they left them), so it's TBD on how easily I can use them.

Lowe's has 500+ bags of calcium chloride in stock, so I'll grab some after shoveling.

We talked about this, lol

It was because of high winds and buses and flooding. Also, districts are EXTREMELY risk averse.

Yeah, they canceled school over here as well. South Carolina law says that if there is going to wind gusts above 40mph the buses cannot run.

Evidently no one in the Midwest goes to school.

Pine Richland had the kids go to school (along with most schools in the north hills).

🥶
Much of the U.S. was even colder than Antarctica on Monday. With temperatures at two of its three stations between 30°F and 36°F, places like Denver, Salt Lake City, and Chicago were way colder (temperatures were -6°F, 16°F, and 2°F, respectively, at airports within the cities, according to the National Weather Service). When you factor in the wind chill, temperatures in parts of Texas were below 10°F Tuesday morning.

As of 11 a.m. CT Tuesday, it’s 36° F at the Palmer Station in Antarctica and 27° F at the McMurdo Station, according to the United States Antarctic Program. At Chicago O’Hare International Airport, for example, it’s 0° F, but the windchill makes it feel like -19° F — which is, however, warmer than a third station in Antarctica, the South Pole Station, where the temperature is -22° F.
