We went and saw Jurassic Park in concert at Heinz Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony this afternoon. It was a really cool experience.

Yeah those shows where they perform live music score cues to picture are super excellent. I've seen a few of them over the years and they are just so much fun; I think the first one I ever saw was Looney Tunes.

Saw Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Posion and Joan Jett a couple weeks ago and it was a fun throwback night and technology helped them all sound better than they have in years.

Going up to Blossom tomorrow night for Phish. First show solo (older brother had to sell his tickets due to family stuff).

I'm excited for the experience.

CliffNotes: rumor is, several performers have riders in their contracts that guns aren't allowed at their shows. because the GA governor is a man who points rifles at teenagers in his campaign ads, it's illegal to ban firearms from public places so the organizers can't guarantee a safe environment.

Probably going to go see Smashing Pumpkins w/Jane's Addiction in October at PPG. Not a big fan of PPG as a concert venue but at least it's not crowded.

Didn't know they were coming. Bigger Jane's fan than the Pumpkins, but there are some songs of the Pumpkins that I don't mind.

For $40-ish in the upper levels after fees, that's not a bad price.

Haha.

I did enter to win snake pit passes. Doubt I'll win, but the last time I entered a Metallica concert it as in 2004 and I won backstage passes to meet the band, so fingers crossed.

Good luck. :thumb:

Watching that Metallica concert on our flight back from vacation, and hearing how James’ voice sounds more like the old days as opposed to Load, really makes me want to go to another one.

How was the venue? My daughter was just up there watching fellowship of the ring with Cleveland symphony orchestra and said it was incredible.

Blossom is always great. This was my 3rd show there. Was on the lawn but not a bad spot in the place. The stage and pavilion is also slightly smaller than other locations so it feels more intimate (which as you know for Phish, is a good thing).

Phish just always brings it at Blossom so if you can get to a show up there, highly recommend it.

Wish me luck, taking my 9 year old to see Macklemore and Imagine Dragons. I figure I'll come back smelling like a combination of AXE body spray and high school locker room funk.

My wife and her sister had a blast at Macklemore and Kesha. I stayed in the hotel room and played AoE2, lol.

I forgot how weird arena concerts are. It’s not like you can get up and dance when you’re packed in the bowl so you just sort of bop spastically.

I just looked on Craigslist and Ticketmaster for Metallica tickets. Had no idea what the price would be, but if there was something reasonable, I was going to consider maybe grabbing a ticket.

I couldn't find anything below $200 before fees.

Yeah, I'm just gonna sit this one out.

Show was pretty good. Forgot that both Macklemore & ID are of the Hard Rock "Love All, Serve All" progressive genre. So while there were a lot of Dads & Sons, there was also an interesting mix of forties/fifties with pride flags. It was a fun night and most importantly he loved it. Was quite a fair number of sing a longs too.
