dodint's Thread of Concerts and Public Events
My music interests have really fallen off the past few years. I just have no desire to see anybody or anticipate new music coming out.
I have cousins that are 18 and 23, and they are into the K-pop stuff. My aunt and uncle have driven them many hours to see concerts throughout the years. That's some super parent stuff right there.

I got off a conference call to like six texts from her this morning along with an "OMG". I think the lineup looks terrible but it's a nice vineyard so I'll be happy to just drink and not be with the kids all afternoon/night.

now that you mention it, I can't think of the last concert that I went to that featured a new act. Most of my stuff has been bands that have been around forever and it's just me catching on bands that I never had the opportunity to see years ago.My music interests have really fallen off the past few years. I just have no desire to see anybody or anticipate new music coming out.
The show that I went to this week was a band that had a minor hit in the late 80s and a band that was literally doing a farewell tour. Before that, it was several punk bands who had been together since the early 80s.

I've pretty much hit my quota on older acts seeing live. There are a handful still out there, but most just won't be available to see. Billy strings is definitely my top performer these days and I've gotten back into leftover salmon in a big way as well. Been really enjoying the jam grass scene as I get older. I still love going down rabbit holes and finding stuff I haven't heard in a while or just haven't listened to. Quicksilver messenger service is one of those bands. I'll never tire of 60s psychedelic stuff. Been listening to a lot of piano instrumental. Listening to Billy's new shows almost nightly is enough to keep me busy. I'm living vicariously through my buddy who still sees Phish (got some cool pics from him at the Greek with Pollock yesterday). Give me George Michael radio on Pandora and I'm also happy

This year seems like it's going to be a big year of going to shows for me. Father John Misty is coming next week, Dream Theater/Devin Townsend/Animals as Leaders in May, Fleet Foxes in June, Mastodon/Gojira in August and I'm pretty pumped to get a chance to see Funkadelic/Parliament while George Clinton is still kicking in August as well. Dude is like 80 years old and still going at it. Still trying to figure out if I want to go to see Ghost but leaning pretty heavily against it as I just can't stand Starlake.

I would have guessed George Clinton was either significantly older than 80, or dead.

Blink-182 is coming to Charlotte in July. Took a peek and ticket prices. Yeah no thanks

There's a pair listed on Ticketmaster that are right beside the stage for $113 + fees, so I'm guessing they're 150ish. But that's more the exception than the standard.
Seeing tickets for almost $300 in the lower level, yeah no thanks.

I paid $65 and change for Jason Isbell tickets, which seems almost reasonable. Also, it's 20 minutes from my house, which is nice after 20+ years of having to drive 90+ minutes to see a decent concert. Too old for that.
Like Coachella sounds interesting to me...but also exhausting.

I've been to a few festivals and disliked all of them. They're long days of standing around, mostly seeing bands you don't super care about, only to finally get to the band you really want to see and their set is 45 minutes because it's a festival. I get why people like it more for the atmosphere and experience, but as far as actually seeing live music goes, there are much better ways.Source of the post Like Coachella sounds interesting to me...but also exhausting.

I went to Coachella once. It was miserable 20 years ago, I can't imagine it's any better now.

The only festival I'd go to now in my advanced age is Bottlerock. Totally different vibe, lots of scarves and flowy dresses, great food. And when it gets to be too much the venue is in downtown Napa, by the Oxbow and sit-down restaurants, the river; Coachella is in the middle of nowhere, like a prison.

Speaking of festivals, I didn't recognize one name from the Three Rivers Arts fest lineup. Moving it from the point also killed my interest.

I'll check them out. Still, I'd be way more apt to go if it were at the point. The streets get way too crowded.Galactic and taj mahal are excellentSpeaking of festivals, I didn't recognize one name from the Three Rivers Arts fest lineup. Moving it from the point also killed my interest.

Guess we are going to blink 182 on may 17th.
Wife's friend of a friend sold their tickets to us for $150 total for two tickets up in 216.
Compared to what people are trying to scalp them for when I just looked that's a pretty good deal.

That's a ridiculously good price. My wife suddenly wants to go so we're on the lookout and haven't seen any close to that.Source of the post Wife's friend of a friend sold their tickets to us for $150 total for two tickets up in 216.

Saw Pedro the Lion at Mr Smalls last night. It was a really great show and surprisingly under-attended. He played all of It's Hard to Find a Friend and Control (though not in order). It actually made for a kind of weird vibe. Because of the high number of songs, he didn't interact much with the audience except for in between albums and briefly near the end of the show. Still, Control **** rocks.

Live Nation All In Pricing coming May 9 presale and May 10 general. Mostly lawn type tickets for $25 including fees. Acts vary by location obviously.

Maybe this should be in the drunk tank thread, but I woke up this morning to an email with a digital Beach Boys ticket, so I guess I'll be seeing them in August?

Lizzo put on a great show even though PPG is a terrible concert venue. Speaking of, I found two tickets for Blink 182 for under face value for my wife’s birthday so we’ll be back at PPG on Wednesday.

Saw The Hooters Friday night at the Ardmore Music Hall in Philly suburbs. Great small venue. Mostly SRO with a few reserved tables. 600 people. Beers are only $6-8 for most. We went upstairs and were directly overlooking the band and had a bathroom 10 steps away.
