So a friend of mine here with roots to Pittsburgh is selling her two tickets to Kenny Chesney at Heinz Field in June. I am absolutely flabbergasted at the price - she paid $288 a PIECE for her seats, but is willing to part with them for $500.

That being said, if you know anyone who wants them...let me know.

That's not that crazy for a stadium show. I paid like 225ish per ticket for GA floor/field tickets for Metallica later this year at PNC after you factor in all the fees and stuff. They are going for way more now on the resale market.

How many tickets are available/do they sell to these stadium shows?

Honestly not sure but PNC holds 38k for baseball ..so probably a bit less than that for concerts depending on stage setup.

That's okay. I can throw trash in the street at home and save $500.

Yeah, I've never been to a stadium show and they don't interest me for the crowd size, most likely crappy sound, distance from the performers, etc but that's probably mostly a reflection of the music I've liked over the years.

My first stadium concert was Rolling Stones Steel Wheel tour in 1989, at Three Rivers Stadium. Actually wanted to see Living Colour more than the Stones at the time. That was cool, but we were so far away from anything.

The last one was Pink Floyd at Death Valley (Clemson) which was excellent. Still far away, but the lights/sound/pyro was exceptional.

I've been to very few concerts over the last 20 years, mostly out of apathy and cheapness. It usually involves a 2+ hour drive each way, hotel stay, and I couldn't be arsed to plan any of it. Came close to seeing Genesis this fall, but couldn't fathom the $300 ticket plus the 3 hour drive to Raleigh. Ugh. Lazy and cheap is no way to live life, but it is what it is.

Does anybody want to buy two tickets to see John Mulaney in Columbus this Friday? I bought them for myself and a date that bailed and now I don't want to request off work, just trying to get face value back.

He announced this tour pretty much right after he left rehab.

I don't know if this is the correct thread but there are a lot of great Broadway touring shows coming through Pittsburgh this year. I'd love to see Hadestown and Beetlejuice (surprisingly a ton of good buzz about that show). Plus Les Mis will be back and Dear Evan Hansen. I tried to watch the DEH movie and I don't know if it was the 40 year old pretending to be 16 but I just couldn't get into it. Hairspray, Jagged Little Pill, and Frozen will also be here but I'm not too keen on those.

On top of the musicals, Chazz Palminteri will be here performing the one man show version of A Bronx Tale. That would be awesome to see.

What could JLP be? Performing the album with skits and interpretive dance woven in?

It uses some of the album's songs with others "inspired by" and has an unrelated story woven in. Shockingly, it was a big hit. It's written by Diablo Cody (Juno, United States of Tara, and a bunch of other horrible ****). I think it was nominated for something like 15 or 16 Tonys.

Interesting. So it'll use the three songs people might recognize from JLP, new music, and an unrelated story. Yeah, naw.

I should rebuy the album. Mine was stolen before mp3s were a thing and I never rebought it.

It also has songs from other Alanis albums including Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie so not just JLP. I don't know much about it other than I saw it performed on the Tonys and thought it looked pretty silly.

They released some Billy Joel tickets at PNC today that weren't crazy expensive. Got two tickets in 223 for around $150 after taxes not to shabby. My wife has seen him before, but I have not...and I figure this might be one of this last tours.

His concert is Aug 11th at PNC, Metallica is Aug 14th at PNC. Motley Crue/Def Leppard/Joan Jett are Aug 13th... I'm tempted to get tickets to that show too and just make it a long weekend of concerts haha.

My wife wouldn't go with me to see Billy Joel, so there's less than a zero percent chance that she'd go with me to Metallica, haha.

My wife is the one who wanted to go to Billy Joel (though I wanted to see him too). She would have went with me to Metallica if I didn't have anyone else who wanted to go. Thankfully I did so she got relieved of having to to do that.

She's pretty open to going to almost any concert and we have a cross section of music we both like. She would enjoy Metallica because she likes some of their songs and she can play guitar, but I wouldn't really expect her to go to any super heavy concerts. I know she would, but I know she wouldn't really enjoy herself.

Saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers last night at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. I last saw him maybe 20 years ago, and except for George being a little slower on his feet (he's now 72), the show was basically the same. It was basically the major hits, like Bad to the Bone, Who Do You Love, I Drink Alone (the theme song of alcoholics everywhere), Haircut, and One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.

I said look man, come down here...

The Chicks have had to cancel some shows due to Natalie Maines having vocal issues.

I've got tix to see them for the first time in ATL July 16. right now I'm hopeful this is just a temporary setback.
an old friend of mine is a guitar tech for them and so far, she's still out on the road and hasn't mentioned anything about returning home anytime soon so *fingers crossed*
