Source of the post I only went because her friend canceled at the last minute and I didn't want her to have to go alone.
Her friend should now be on the **** list.
Nah. Her daughter is having a mental health crisis. Tried to commit suicide a few weeks ago. She's in sixth grade. The initial plan was for my wife's friend to use it as a night out away with her grandparents watching her daughter (they're my good neighbors) but she decided she didn't want to be away from her because she's been regressing lately.

Also worth noting that this show was originally on a Friday but was canceled because Mayer got COVID. It would've been better if I wasn't constantly looking at my watch calculating how many hours until I have to be at work. ;) Also, the last time Mayer came here he didn't have an opening act so my wife didn't build that extra 90 minutes into her plan for the evening.

JFC, that's awful. I retract my statement.

I really miss live concerts. I think Slayer was my last one, and that had to have been 20 years ago at this point.

Lots of great tours going around right now. Live music is a great escape.

It's fine. I was basically the Wheeling goalie finding himself in NHL gear last night. Every friend that could or should have gone had legitimate prior commitments.

My tinnitus says otherwise, unfortunately. Simply not worth the risk, even with ear protection.

John Mayer.....He's a tremendous guitar player and would've been (probably) worshipped on the level of Eddie Van Halen and Eric Clapton if he came of age in the 60s or 70s.
Jesus tittyf**king Christ

He's a very good guitar player, and I won't even qualify it with "for what he does". But what in the name of f**kballs are you getting at here?? If he had come of age in the 60s or 70s you never would've heard of him as a guitar player.

.
Not a fan of the Hendrix-ey schtick of taking a 2-3 minute break in the middle of the song to do a long-winded guitar riff that is completely out of place and sounds like the guitar is in actual pain; especially so if it's acoustic and sounds like banging the strings against tree bark. John does this every song.
Sounds like John's been playing with Dead & Co. for too long

what the **** is shoegaze metal
I'll admit that I usually tune out when the discussion goes to sub-genres of music, but I've never heard that term used until now.

Same here. IMO, there are far too many subgenres - especially when it comes to metal. Half of them cover more than one genre, too.

The idea of Sob Rock is that it “might have been something that already happened, but when you go looking, it's not,” an album that incepts itself into your memory as though it had actually been in your collection this whole time.
It's a John Mayer album where his goal was to not have a single track sound original. ;)

Metal fans love to make 500000 sub genres of metal music. It's really annoying. If it's good.. it's good.. don't care what you label it as.

Like "Math Rock".

I didn't learn anything about differential equations listening to it.

"Emo Rock" is one of the most used NYT music-related crossword clues I've encountered.

Mathcore
Hardcore
Screamcore
Deathcore
Melodica metal
Death Metal

It's like everyone wants to be the best at once, so they make a subgenre to be the best of it.

Honestly, I'd just knock it down to two - metal and death metal. Done and done. And while on the topic, I'd have **** killed to have seen Death live. That one bums me out more than any other.
