Foo Fighters announced a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl on 9/28. I believe it will be the first time the Foos have played the city ever, but certainly since guitarist and SB native Chris Shiflett joined the band (circa 2000-ish). The venue holds around 4,500, including festival/standing entries, so it will be a great venue to see a big time rock show.

Two different presales let me down on Tuesday. General sales evaporated before I made it through the wait queue. Highest face value ticket was $150, the equivalent ticket is now on StubHub for $1,800.

Concert tickets are just way to expensive. Secondary market already pushing $300+

I paid $85 plus fees ($109ish total) for 200s level and I thought that was pushing it. I swear the price went from $71 to $85 as I added them to my cart like 3 minutes after the pre-sale started.

One of the presales was the artist's mailing list code, the other was for Citi cardholders. Both were bupkiss within 120 seconds of going live.

Yeah, the special presales barely help anymore because all of the people running bots to buy a ton of tickets already have the codes.

Not to mention ticketmaster is literally scalping their own tickets.

My brother and I drove to Johnstown last night to see Asking Alexandria, The Hu, and Zero 9:36 at the hockey arena. I was there to see The Hu and wasn't familiar with the other two bands.

I thought that opening act Zero 9:36 was ok, but not particularly memorable. Sort of a mix of metal and rap. It wasn't bad at all, but wasn't something where I'm going to go buy the band's albums.

The Hu put on an excellent show, but I was a little disappointed that they mostly stuck to the "harder" songs in their catalog, with the only slower song being Mother Nature. The other two bands in the tour are definitely on the "metal" side, though, so I can understand why The Hu stuck to the songs they did. Still, I would have liked to hear songs like Shireg Shireg or Bii Biyelgee. Regardless, The Hu puts on great live performances. I think the bulk of the crowd was likely there to see Asking Alexandria, but during the final stage changeover I overheard multiple people around saying how much they had liked The Hu. Not too shabby to get people in Johnstown to like music that isn't even sung in English.

Asking Alexandria was third and last. They apparently belong to the genre known as "metalcore," which combines metal and the screaming/growling style of singing with parts of actual singing. Not my cup of tea, although I did appreciate the technical skill of the performers. With all of the rapid-fire drumming and constant double-kick bass, that drummer probably got the workout equivalent of running a marathon. Lead singer Danny Worsnop is perfectly capable of singing and sounded pretty good when he actually sang, so I'm not sure why it's necessary to scream out most of the lyrics. Too shouty and screamy for my tastes, but I could see why people like it.

I was moderately hopeful, because this show/venue is AXS, and I've had okay luck with them in the past. I think I just got aced by the small capacity and higher demand (this will be FF's first proper LA-area gig since summer 2021).

Took like two years, but finally got Tyler Childers tickets. It’s stupid how expensive it is to go to a show.

Yea. I told my wife he’s the last of the major groups I want to see right now.

I’ve seen Sturgill, Strings, Isbell multiple times.

Now if John Moreland would come back up this way, I’d be set.

As far as the festival, I hadn’t heard of it. Link me.
